Wednesday’s MLB betting has the finale of the four-game set slated, with righties Chad Gaudin (4-1, 2.15 ERA) and Mike Leake (9-4, 2.79 ERA) squaring off.

Giants hold on in nightcap

Cincinnati cashed in the front end of Tuesday’s double dip with a 9-3 victory, finishing with 15 hits. Reds mates Zack Cozart and Devin Mesoraco united to hit 7-for-8, both cracking homers.

San Francisco answered with a 5-3 win following the setback, collecting as a 102 underdog. Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval got his club on the board with a two-run double in the first inning, while closer Sergio Romo anchored five relievers for his 24th save.

Gaudin shuts down D-backs

Gaudin notched a second straight win for San Francisco in Friday’s 2-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, cashing as a 122 home favorite. The 11-year veteran held Arizona to three hits over seven innings, tossing eight strikeouts.

San Francisco’s pair of runs came in the first inning, starting with an RBI-double from catcher Buster Posey. Giants first baseman Brandon Belt logged a 2-for-4 night, while him and has mates went on to finish with eight hits.

Leake collects at home

Leake saw action on the same night, with Cincinnati holding on for a 5-3 win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The San Diego native prevailed as a minus 102 home choice, despite surrendering three homers in the matchup’s sixth frame.

Reds outfielder Chris Heisey cracked his fifth homer of the year, while mate Brandon Phillips drove in three runs from the cleanup spot. Cincinnati’s Aroldis Chapman closed the duel for his 22nd save, hurling two strikeouts in the ninth inning.

Back the ‘Under’ on Wednesday

Early MLB odds opened this matchup at a 'Pick', while first listing the total at a flat 7.5 runs. The weather forecast in San Francisco calls for a clear 60 degrees, with calm winds blowing outward.

I am backing the ‘Under’ in this finale for my sports picks, looking for runs to come at a premium with these starters on the hill.

Gaudin has not allowed a homer in 33 IP at home, holding clubs to a 0.91 WHIP as part of starts and relief outings. The ‘Under’ is 5-2 in the righty’s seven starts overall, allowing no more than two earned runs in six of the affairs.

Leake has tossed some tight ball away from home, allowing a 1.13 WHIP and .285 OBP over 10 road starts. The span’s latest four outings saw Leake last seven or more frames each time out, with the ‘Under’ cashing at 3-1.

Leake went the nine-inning distance in last June’s most recent visit to San Francisco, holding the Giants to one run. Giants mates Buster Posey and Brandon Belt were held to a combined 1-for-8, with the ‘Under’ cashing despite a combined 22 hits from both clubs.

Look for the ‘Under’ to collect again in this spot, adding to umpire Chris Guccione’s 2-1 mark for the wager in his three games behind the dish this month.
