Find out why our cappers are adding the 'Under' to our MLB picks in tonight's matchup between the Boston Red Sox and the Oakland Athletics.

The Boston Red Sox have won three straight in their present road trip, while the OVER has cashed at 5-2 as part of the seven-game journey. Friday’s MLB betting has John Farrell’s club opening a weekend set against the Oakland Athletics, with Boston’s John Lackey (6-6, 2.80 ERA) facing Oakland’s Jarrod Parker (6-6, 4.04 ERA).

Which club should you back in your MLB picks? Let's review both teams' performance.

Check out our Friday Morning MLB Odds & Betting Lines Report.

Red Sox surge in Seattle

Boston came away with an 8-7 victory in Thursday’s finale with the Seattle Mariners, rallying from behind as a 130 favorite. Red Sox outfielder Daniel Nava ended a 0-for-5 drought with an RBI-single in the 10th frame, driving home Jackie Bradley for team’s go-ahead run.

Oakland returns home after a 4-2 stint through Kansas City and Pittsburgh, ending with Wednesday’s 5-0 defeat as a 129 underdog to the Pirates. Athletics leadoff man Coco Crisp hit 3-for-4 in the shutout, while mates Yoenis Cespedes and Nate Freiman were held to a combined 0-for-8 night.

Lackey outgunned in L.A.

Lackey logged his first loss in seven starts with Sunday’s 3-0 defeat for Boston as a 121 road dog against the Los Angeles Angels. The 34-year-old allowed two homers as part of five hits, while tossing nine strikeouts over seven innings.

Red Sox sluggers David Ortiz and Mike Carp were both held to 0-for-4 outings, with Carp striking out four times. Boston’s Jacoby Ellsbury poked a double in a 1-for-4 night from the leadoff spot, while the contest’s three runs plunged UNDER the ‘total’ of eight.

Parker edged by Royals

Parker picked up a third straight no decision in Saturday’s 4-3 loss for Oakland to the Kansas City Royals, falling as a 105 road dog. The Indiana native gave up two earned runs on five hits, lasting for 6 1/3 innings.

Athletics third baseman Josh Donaldson homered in a 2-for-3 day, while mate Brandon Moss left three men on base from the cleanup spot. Oakland’s Ryan Cook logged his staff’s loss, allowing Kansas City’s go-ahead run in the eighth inning.

Back the UNDER in Oakland

MLB odds opened Parker as a 120 home favorite, while the MLB odds dropped to minus 110 after Boston’s initial wagers. The ‘total’ was first posted at 7 ½, with the OVER moving to a minus 120 premium.

I am going against the early ‘steam’ in this spot, adding a ticket on the UNDER as part of Friday’s sports picks

Parker has tossed some solid starts at home, holding foes to eight earned runs over his last six outings (38 IP). The righty gave up just one run each in both of last year’s matchups with the Red Sox, with UNDER backers cashing at 2-0.

Lackey’s latest affair brought the UNDER to 5-1 in the hurler’s last six road starts, allowing 11 earned runs over the span’s 38 2/3 IP. The 11-year veteran faces an Athletics lineup hitting just .225 against right-handed pitching at home.

Oakland has seen the UNDER cash at 12-4 in its last 16 contests at O.co Coliseum against a righty starter, while the wager is 6-0 in the team’s last six matchups with a ‘total’ between seven and 8 ½. Look for the UNDER to collect again here, with the series starting out tight.
