Our MLB betting expert previews Friday’s Cubs and Athletics game. Go inside to read this enthralling betting article culminated with a MLB pick.

Chicago Cubs (Lester) vs. Oakland A’s (Overton)
This will be the first meeting between these teams since 2013. We’ll see a pair of southpaw starting pitchers square off this evening. That’s certainly noteworthy from an A’s standpoint, considering they’ve gone 18-8 (69.2%) over the total this season when facing a left-handed starting pitcher, and averaged 5.0 runs scored per game through that course of time.

It’s also worth mentioning, the Cubs have gone 30-19 over the total on the road this year. Additionally, current MLB betting odds at Pinnacle has the Cubs as a -210 money line favorite. They’ve gone 23-13 (63.9%) this season as a money line road favorite of -125 or greater.

Starting Pitchers
I had to check this twice because I couldn’t believe my very own eyes. During Jon Lester’s last three road starts, he’s posted a massive 18.37 ERA and 3.12 WHIP. Through that course of time, he allowed six home runs in just 8 1/3 innings of work. He’ll be facing an Oakland team tonight which has homered 12 times over their last seven games, and also collected an impressive .448 slugging percentage. Lester did allow no earned runs on 4 hits in his last start against Seattle. However, that appearance came at Wrigley Field. Furthermore, Lester is 9-2 over the total this season after allowing 1 earned run or less during his previous start.

Oakland counters with Dillon Overstreet, and saying he’s been abysmal in recent starts would be a vast understatement. As a matter of fact, Overstreet has amassed a monster 11.37 ERA and 2.45 WHIP over his last three starts. Through that period of time, Overstreet allowed 6 home runs in just 12 2/3 innings of work.

Final Take and Pick
Despite the reputation of Cubs starter Jon Lester, this game has the signs of a high scoring affair. That’s exactly the path I’ll be taking when making one of my Friday MLB picks.
