Will the Rays be able to take advantage of the Yankees struggling starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia? Read this revealing piece for this and more answers as well as our free MLB pick.

AL East Series Opener at Tropicana
The Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees will open a four game series at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida on Monday. The first pitch is slated for 7:10 PM ET. According to the MLB betting odds at Pinnacle, Tampa Bay is a -109 money line favorite, and the posted total is 7.0. Today will be the seventh game played m in 2015 between these AL East rivals, the Yankees are 5-1 in the first six, and that includes a 3-0 sweep at Tropicana Field in early April.

Starting Pitchers
The Yankees C.C. Sabathia will get the start on the mound on Monday, and saying that he’s had a rough beginning to the season would be an understatement. Sabathia is 1-5 in his first six team starts with a 5.45 ERA. The veteran southpaw has also displayed terrible form in his last three outings, posting a very lofty 6.75 ERA, and allowed 5 homers in 17 1/3 innings pitched. He’s also gone a dismal 1-8 in his last nine team starts at Tampa Bay, and since the beginning of the 2013 season has posted a large 6.90 ERA in seven starts overall versus the Rays.

Alex Colome will make his third start of the season for Tampa Bay on Monday. Colome has a stellar 1.80 ERA in his first two starts of the 2015 MLB campaign, and both of those outings went under the total. The young right-hander has made two career starts versus the Yankees, both coming since 2013, and didn’t allow an earned run in either one of those outings.

Final Analysis
The books have finally adjusted the money line when C.C. Sabathia is on the mound. The aging one time dominant hurler is no longer a shell of what he used to be, and his current statistical numbers indicate exactly that. If Monday’s pitching matchup were to have taken place in early April, we would’ve seen the Yankees as a -140 to -155 money line favorite, instead of a small underdog like they currently are.

Alex Colome of the Rays has the look of a very promising young starter for the Rays if he can stay healthy. The Rays have overachieved a bit in their 17-15 start to the year, and this looks like a favorable spot in addition to an attractive price. I’m siding with the home team for one of my MLB picks on Monday.

MLB Pick: Play the Rays -109 on the money line over the Yankees at Pinnacle.
