The Los Angeles Angels moved to 7-2 in their last nine contests with Friday’s 6-5 home win over the Texas Rangers, cashing at minus 107 MLB odds.
Angels, Trumbo hold on at home
Angels first baseman Mark Trumbo drilled a three-run homer in Friday’s fourth inning, giving his club a 5-3 lead. Los Angeles’ Erick Aybar and Mike Trout united to hit 5-for-8, while closer Ernesto Frieri tossed two strikeouts en route to his 31st save.
Rangers mates Elvis Andrus and Alez Rios both cracked long balls, each finishing with 2-for-5 nights. Texas was edged in hits, 10-9, while the battle’s combined 11 runs soared OVER the ‘total’ of 7 ½.
Richards cashes as home dog
Richards notched his second win in three starts with Monday’s 11-2 triumph for Los Angeles as a 124 home dog over the Tampa Bay Rays. The 25-year-old allowed one run over five frames, giving up two hits and seven walks.
Angels second baseman Grant Green cracked his first homer of the year, while mates Josh Hamilton and Andrew Romine poked one double each. Los Angeles finished with 16 hits, including 2-for-4 outings from Hank Conger and Peter Bourjos.

Holland outdueled in Oakland
Holland was not as fortunate on the same day’s card, picking up a loss in Texas’ 4-2 defeat as a 100 road dog to the Oakland Athletics. The Ohio native departed after 4 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits.
Texas’ A.J. Pierzynski and Lance Berkman were both held to 0-for-4 nights, leaving 11 men on base. Rangers outfielder David Murphy homered from the lineup’s No. 9 slot, while second baseman Ian Kinsler hit 0-for-5.
Back the Angels on Saturday
Bet365 opened Holland as a 123 road favorite, while first listing the ‘total’ at eight (UNDER minus 115). The weather forecast in Anaheim calls for a clear 83 degrees, with calm winds blowing outward.
I am backing Richards and the Angels as home dogs here, taking an MLB betting price of plus 113.
Richards has seen cashed tickets in three of his last four starts, including a pair of them as a sizable underdog. The third-year hurler has held his own against the Rangers’ bats, including the holding of Adrian Beltre to a 1-for-8 career mark.
Holland has had his share of sharp road numbers, but faces an Angels lineup that has started to find its groove again, notching 5.1 RPG over its last eight contests. Los Angeles is 5-1 in its last six spots as an underdog, while Texas’ scoring support has been cold with just 3.1 RPG in its last seven matchups.
Los Angeles’ Mike Trout has two homers and two doubles in a 9-for-22 career mark against Holland’s arm, while coming in hitting 11-for-20 over his last six games. Look for Trout and Co. to get the money here, adding another cashed ticket to the club’s 4-0 mark in its last four battles with American League West foes.
