The Texas Rangers are a sinking ship even with their ace on the mound, which will allow the Baltimore Orioles to finish off a four-game sweep Thursday night. Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds for this American League matchup at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET

Downward spiral
Texas finds itself 10 games under .500 for the first time since 2007, as it looks to avoid getting swept in this series after suffering a 6-4 setback as +122 road underdogs Wednesday, while going OVER the betting total for a second consecutive affair.

The Rangers are a dismal 5-13 versus AL East opponents during the 2014 campaign, including a 2-7 mark when playing away from Arlington.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the franchise has compiled a respectable 29-24 record on the road with a money line of -100 to -125.

Making a move
Baltimore begins the day a season-best six games over .500 for the season, but it still ranks just sixth in the Junior Circuit with a run differential of plus-17.

The Orioles have outscored the Rangers by a 21-8 combined margin in capturing the first three meetings in this series, while outfielder Adam Jones has gone 11 for 21 at the plate over the course of his current six-game hitting streak.

MLB handicappers will find that the club is 34-27 versus right-handed starters, with the OVER going 31-28-2 in that situation.

Rangers starting pitcher Yu Darvish (8-4, 2.42 ERA) snapped a personal two-game losing streak in picking up a 5-0 home victory over the Minnesota Twins last time out, as he scattered four hits over eight shutout innings.

The right-hander is 4-2 with a 3.18 ERA in seven road efforts, with opposing hitters batting .260 against him (.190 at home).

Darvish owns an 8-3 record and 2.20 ERA in 16 lifetime starts versus AL East foes, but the Orioles are the only club from the Junior Circuit that he’s never defeated.

Orioles starting pitcher Wei-Yin Chen (7-3, 4.19 ERA) has watched the club alternate wins and losses over his last seven trips to the mound, as he comes off a 5-4 setback at home to the Tampa Bay Rays.

The left-hander is 3-2 with a 3.93 ERA in nine home appearances—serving up eight home runs in 55 combined frames.

In three career starts versus the Rangers, Chen has compiled a 3-0 record and 1.29 ERA.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Orioles as one of their MLB picks, as they’ve won seven of Chen’s last eight starts as a home underdog.
