It will be a battle between Japanese right-handers at Yankee Stadium in The Big Apple on Sunday afternoon. Let’s try to come through in the clutch with an MLB pick or two.

Odds Overview
Seattle Mariners at New York Yankees [Sunday 18:05] (YES, ROOT-Northwest, MLB Extra Innings, Directv 631, Directv 687 (US), 1:05 p.m. EDT/10:05 a.m. PDT): Expect millions of Japanese baseball fans to be watching this Game 3 of this New York Yankees-Seattle Mariners series with the Mariners scheduled to send right-hander Masahiro Tanaka (0-0, 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP) to the mound to face right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma (0-1, 4.09 ERA, 1.64 WHIP) in this AL inter-divisional series at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx on Sunday afternoon in a battle of Japanese hurlers with the 35-year-old Iwakuma hailing from Higashiyamato, Tokyo and the 27-year-old Tanaka from Itami, Hyogo.

The Mariners won Game 1, 7-1 on Friday night, while on Saturday, Seattle rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to win 3-2 and can now sweep this series with a Win here on Sunday.

Oddsmakers have the Yankees priced as -146 Home favorites with the visiting Mariners lined at +134 ( with the Total (Runs) opening at 8 'Under' -115 (—but being bet down quickly to 7½ ('Under' -108, at The Greek) everywhere leaving nothing but 7½’s for everyone else on the planet.

This kneejerk reaction tells you what the Sharps (professional early bettors) thought about the Total in this game and also that The Early Bird not only gets that proverbial Worm, but he/she also gets that rogue 8 thrown up by Sportsbooks when (seemingly) no one is looking while Saturday’s games are still being played .

The current MLB odds see New York -1½ priced at +150 with the Mariners +1½ at -170 (at Sportsbetting). The First 5 Innings odds had yet to be put up either Offshore or here in Sin City.

Seattle Mariners
The Seattle Mariners (5-6, 3-5 Road, W3) and new Manager Scott Servais got a great Pitching performance on Saturday in Game 2 from Félix Hernández as The King held the Bronx Bombers to just 1 ER on 5 Hits (despite 6 BBs) and improved his Record to 6-1 lifetime at the new Yankee Stadium.

Seattle’s Starting Lineup for Game 2 was LF Norichika Aoki, SS Ketel Marte, 2B Robinson Cano, DH Nelson Cruz, RF Franklin Gutiérrez, C Chris Iannetta, 1B Dae-Ho Lee, CF Leonys Martin, 3B Luis Sardiñas with perpetual stud Hernández getting the pill for the Mariners (33/1 to win World Series, bet365) who have actually been playing some very good Baseball of late and are now strangely enough 4-1 on the Road and 1-5 at Home to start the 2016 MLB Regular Season. This will not last.

New York Yankees
The world famous New York Yankees (4-6, 2-3 at Home, L4) have now gone from 4-2 to 4-6 after suffering their 4th straight Loss in Game 2 of this 3-game series on Saturday in absolutely beautiful Spring weather in The Bronx.

And again the main problem for the Pinstripes was the lack of Offense although at least Gardner (2 Hits) and Castro (2 Hits) continued to shine at the plate and Beltrán had a big game for the hosts, going 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and a HR.

In the game in The House That Ruth Built, Yankees Manager Joe Girardi had a Staring Lineup of CF Jacoby Ellsbury, LF Brett Gardner, DH Alex Rodriguez, 1B Mark Teixeira, RF Carlos Beltrán, 2B Starlin Castro, 3B Chase Headley, SS Didi Gregorius and C Austin Romine with Sabathia getting the ball for the slumping Yankees (25/1 to win World Series, at BetVictor). A-Rod entered the game with a .107 average while now New York starter was hitting over .300 for a team which came in on a 3-game skid having scored 1, 2 and 2 Runs in their L5 games and had 14 men LOB.

Not a good week for the Yankees or to be a Yankees fan when you L4 in a row to the Blue Jays and Mariners and get outscored 21-9 in the process. More like the Bronx Barfers right now.

Series Trends, Pitchers Report Card, Umpires Rotation, Thoughts and MLB picks
After Saturday’s setback, the struggling Yankees are 5-13 their L18 overall (27.8%), now 5-12 in Sabathia’s L17 pitching starts and just 4-11 their L15 games on Grass. And Yankee Stadium is Grass. Dios mio.

Is it Football season yet? The Weather Forecast for The Bronx on Sunday afternoon calls for Mainly Sunny conditions, temperatures around t71° with N Winds of 6 mph, so beautiful Baseball (as well as Life) Weather for this one and the nicest temperatures of the year so far for a Home game for New York AL.

Even though in the L12 meetings in this series, the Yankees are still 8-4 despite losing the first two games of this series and despite the pressure of really needing the win here Sunday both to avoid the sweep and a 5-game Losing streak, the Momentum is clearly in Seattle’s column, despite the Oddsmakers’ appropriate number with a Tanaka-Iwakuma (Probable) Pitching matchup, solely that high because of the site.

But the value lies in the visitors as scratching across Runs one at a time and hitting solo HRs doesn’t get a team over .500. Only Gardner, former-Cubs prospect Castro and Beltrán are hitting the ball right now and Rodriguez is a liability and he is in an early season funk and his face reveals much. The Struggle is real, mi compadre. Real, real.

In the L12 games in this series Total-wise, the 'Under' is 7-4-1 and with these two Japanese sensations going at each other and neither team showing a penchant for the big Inning, the 'Under' is again the look. Iwakuma is 2-2 with a 3.50 ERA in 5 lifetime starts against New York which includes a Win his last outing in The Bronx where he gave up 2 Runs on 5 Hits in 5 2/3rds Inning pitched.

Two Yankees who have fared well vs him, though in limited Plate Appearances, are Gardner (.300, 3-for-10) and Beltrán (.600, 2-for-5) with Brian McCann the only Bronx-er to actually Bomb (Homer) off Iwakuma. And Tanaka has only really struggled with Kyle Seager (.333, 3-for-9, 2 HR, 3 RBI) while Nelson Cruz has gone an embarrassing 0-for-12 and Robinson Cano just 1-for-10 (.100, HR 2 RBI) against the Yankees able righty.

Like Friday and Saturday, the Pitching should dominate early on and throughout and if called upon, the Mariners Bullpen has been magnificent in this series. Both Seattle as the healthy Road Underdog and the 'Under' are worth equal looks in this Game 3 which finds the Road team strangely Confident in this spot while the Home team is not Confident at all and feeling a little Desperate. And it’s hard to hit when you’re desperate, no matter how nice the Weather.
Umpires: Home Plate—Mike Muchlinski, First Base—Mike Winters, Second Base—Mark Wegner, Third Base—Marty Foster.

Preficted Final Score: Mariners 4 Yankees 3
