We’ve gone a tremendous 18-7-3 with our “MLB Totals” articles during the last fourteen days. Today we break down totals in games between Cincinnati/Arizona and Philadelphia/San Diego.

Reds (Iglesias) vs. Diamondbacks (Anderson) 9:40 PM ET
Raisel Iglesias is 0-3 in his road team starts this year with a large 7.53 ERA. Don’t be deceived by Cincinnati going 8-1-1 under the total during their last ten games. All of those contests came versus St. Louis and Pittsburgh. Those are arguably two of the best five pitching staffs in all of baseball.

Chase Anderson has been in horrible form over his previous five starts. During that stretch he has a mammoth 9.12 ERA and 1.75 WHIP. Arizona has gone over the total in their last four, and eight of the previous nine games.

I like this game to be a high scoring affair for one of my MLB picks on Friday. Currently it’s Heritage that requires the least amount of juice for this wager.

MLB Picks: Play on the Reds and Diamondbacks over 8.5

Phillies (Nola) vs. Padres (Shields) 10:10 PM ET
After being anemic for the majority of the first half of the season, Philadelphia has awoken offensively during the previous two weeks. The Phillies have averaged 5.8 runs per outing over their last thirteen games. They’ve also amassed 10 hits or more in 10 of those thirteen. Unfortunately their pitching has failed them recently. The Phillies pitchers have allowed 10 hits or more in each of their last four, and seven of the previous eight games. The bullpen has performed terribly on the road this year, posting a large 1.60 WHIP as a staff, and they’ve been plagued by way too many walks being issued.

San Diego has gone 8-1 over the total in their last nine games. They’re coming off a four game series at Milwaukee versus an offensively depleted Brewers team. However, despite their offensive futility since making a plethora of trades involving some top sluggers, Milwaukee was able to score a combined 27 runs, and accumulate 45 hits during that four game set. San Diego is 17-7 over the total this season at home when the total is 6.0 or 6.5. James Shields will be facing a Phillies club tonight averaging just 0.69 home runs per game. The Padres hurler has gone 8-1 over the total the last two season when facing an opponent averaging 0.75 or less home runs per game. Those nine outings averaged a combined 10.0 runs scored per game.

MLB Picks: Play on the Phillies and Padres over 6.5 (-115) at 5Dimes.
