After a 2nd consecutive undefeated day, we stay on the Yankees bandwagon and continue to cash in and provide winners for the betting public. Let's take a look at Wednesday's game and the opportunity that lies within with our MLB Picks of the Day.

Baltimore Orioles vs. New York Yankees

It's Pinetar's Turn
Everyone knows that I won't jump off of the Yankees bandwagon until they prove otherwise. However, with Michael "Pinetar" Pineda (3-9, 5.56 ERA) taking to the mound, there's cause for concern. One would expect the odds to display this as a near even game and the various sportsbooks list the Yankees as a substantial betting favorite.

While I don't think that the bettor receives great value as Pineda continuously let's up the gopher ball, I'm not about to hop off the Yankees bandwagon. Each game that they play Baltimore has a 2 game swing and after 2 wins against the O's, the Bombers find themselves at 47-46 and a manageable 6 1/2 games behind the Orioles. Simply stated, all of a sudden, they're in the divisional race.

Michael Pineda
He can surely strike out the opposing hitter and in this case, I think that he actually might pitch well and intimidate a very strong Orioles offense. In 100 1/13 innings this season, Pineda has struck out 119 batters. On the flip side, he hasn't won a ball game since June 7th against the Los Angeles Angels.

One thing that I will mention in Pineda's defense is that he doesn't receive run support. New York has scored a total of 7 runs in 4 games for Michael Pineda and nobody is going to win under those circumstances.

Pineda does have the support of a Yankees bullpen that hasn't allowed a run in over 20 innings. Even Anthony Swarzak got in on the fun last night as Nathan Eovaldi handed over a 3-1 lead with bases loaded and 1 out in the 6th inning. Swarzak proceeded to force two popups. Nobody can beat the Yankees when the Yanks have a lead entering the latter stages of a ball game.

Bottom of the Order
The bottom of the order in New York's lineup continues to produce. Didi Gregorious has had an all-star season with the bat an with the glove and last night, Starlin Castro had a huge night with 2 hits, 1 HR and 4 RBI. The way that Ellsbury and Gardner have played this season, New York need's production from these two men and look for it to continue as we ride the Yankees again, with a bit of apprehension due to Pineda, tonight. This is a team that's confident and that bullpen carries them making them my MLB pick.

Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Angels

Going In Different Directions
While it is true that the Texas Rangers (55-40) hold a large 12 1/2 game lead on the Los Angeles Angels (42-52), there's still plenty of time left in the season and the Angels have won 8 out of their last 10 games and the Rangers have won just 2 out of their last 10 games. If you look at both offenses, I think I'd rather have the Angels offense when players such as Albert Pujols and Kole Calhoun are hitting well. The Angels have the momentum and a slight edge in the starting pitching matchup of Perez (7-6, 4.05 ERA) vs. Santiago (7-4, 4.27 ERA).

A July Guy
That's exactly what Angels starter, Hector Santiago, has been as he's dominated in the month of July as the Angels have gotten out of the AL West basement and are looking to create havoc with a post-season run.

In the month of July, Santiago has allowed a mere run in 20 innings pitched. He's also allowed 12 hits and struck out 20 batters during that period of time. This certainly gives Los Angeles, who already has the momentum, the edge in this matchup. This game in essence also involves a two game swing and the Angels need every game that they can get.

Mike Trout
He's simply the best player in baseball with a huge future. Not only does Trout provide outstanding production at the plate, but he saves a ton of runs with his glove in the field. He's a modern day Mickey Mantle. Thus far this season, Trout has 19 HR, 62 RBI, .320 BA and .425 OBP%. If the Angels were to put him up in the cleanup spot, he would have more runs batted in, but they want him up the maximum amount of times per game and he also sets the tone for this team. With the combination of Trout and Santiago, I envision the Halos picking up their 6th consecutive win at superb MLB odds.
