Coming off an easy 2-0 ending to the week, we're carrying some momentum and looking to start the last week in July with a bang. Here are your coveted MLB Picks of the Day.

New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros

Rematch of Last Year's AL Wild Card
While the New York Yankees have managed to get themselves above .500 at 50-48, they get a matchup that they haven't fared well with in the past in the hard hitting Houston Astros and starter Dallas Keuchel (6-9, 4.70 ERA). The only difference this season is that Keuchel is nowhere near a 20 win pitcher. That said, I still think that he's an imposing figure despite the Yankees possessing Betances, Miller, and Chapman. There's no better bullpen in the majors and New York, in my opinion, is making a poor decision in attempting to break it up via trade in order to improve the rest of their team.

The Best Player In Baseball
Most people would think that I'm writing about a Los Angeles Angels game and referring to Mike Trout. I'm not. I'm referring to the best and most underrated ball player in the game in 5 foot 6 inch Jose Altuve.

Altuve has added power to his game and this guy has been on fire and is consistent. This isn't just a fluke as Altuve has had seasons of hitting .340 in the past. Houston is currently 54-44 and on a 4 game winning streak. They're just 2 1/2 games behind the AL West leading Texas Rangers and Jose Altuve is the catalyst on this team for winning.

A .400 Hitter???
Just look at these numbers! Altuve is hitting a red hot .360 with 17 HR, 60 RBI, 25 SB, and 1.003 OPS. While hitting .373 in the month of July, Altuve is 14 for his last 25 at-bats with 2 HR and 6 RBI. Tony Gwynn was the last hitter to come close to hitting .400. If there were any hitter to have a chance at reaching that magical number, it's Jose Altuve.

Yankees starter, Michael Pineda could have his hands full with Altuve tonight depsite Altuve's lack of success against the Yankees. The Astros are loaded with young talent in guys such as Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa. Look for Houston to defeat the Bombers at home this evening.

Chicago Cubs vs. Chicago White Sox

The Battle of Chicago
Normally, you mention the better team, the Chicago Cubs (59-38), but in this situation, I mention the team that's having difficulties in the White Sox (48-50).  With the whole Chris Sale suspension and possible trade, a team couldn't possibly ignore that kind of distraction as Sale is the ace of this White Sox team. To make things worse, the White Sox must face the Cubs' ace in Jake Arrieta (12-4, 2.60 ERA). It's been a bit of a bumpy road for Arrieta lately, but he's still having an outstanding season and the Cubs were the odds on favorite to win the World Series at the beginning of the season. They still have the starting pitching and offense to be big-time contenders.

In their last 10 games, the Chicago Cubs are 7-3 and the Chicago White Sox are 3-7. At the moment, the Cubbies aren't feeling a ton of pressure where the National League Central Division is concerned as they hold a 7 1/2 game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant
This is the tandem that's been doing it all season offensively and looking to get the Cubs to the Promise Land. While Rizzo has been hitting poorly lately, he still managed a 3 run double that was the big hit in Chicago's 6-5 win over the Brew Crew. For the season, Rizzo is hitting .287 with 24 HR and 75 RBI. He also possesses a .394 OBP%. Look for Anthony Rizzo to possibly play well off of his last game as he's gotten a bit of confidence back.

When Kris Bryant started with the Cubs last season, the sky was the limit and I'm one of those people think that Bryant has a huge upside The best has yet to come. So far, Bryant has already delivered with 25 HR, 65 RBI, and a .284 BA. His numbers are very similar to that of Anthony Rizzo. He has a high OBP% like Rizzo as opposing pitchers fear him. Look for this dynamic duo along with Jake Arrieta to pick up the win here and lay the juice.
