Today, we see a bunch of outstanding, but inconsistent pitchers taking to the mound. Stand by as we provide you with our best MLB Picks for Friday's Slate.

Philadelphia Phillies vs Atlanta Braves

Good Spot For the Phils
Even though they're 47-57 this season and almost definite not to compete for a postseason spot,  this season has been somewhat of a success for the Philadelphia Phillies as some young players have emerged as budding stars. Tonight, they get a chance to improve upon their record as they face a very weak and inexperienced starting pitcher in Tyrell Jenkins (0-2, 6.17 ERA) and Vince Velasquez (8-2, 3.34 ERA), who has had an outstanding season also gets the start for Philadelphia. This is definitely a pitching matchup that favors Philly and the Atlanta Braves do themselves no favors at home where they're just 14-37 this season.

"America's Bottom-feeder"
In yesterday's game, Braves starter, Matt Wisler couldn't even register an out on Philly until the Phillies scored 4 runs on him as they coasted from that point to a 7-5 victory.

Maikel Franco smashed his 19th home run of the season to go along with 3 RBI's and Aaron Altherr had a huge game which was unexpected. While Altherr is a question mark, the Phillies will depend on Franco and players like Odubel Herrera to shoulder the load where the offense is concerned. Herrera has only hit .237 in the month of July but has come on strong lately as he's hitting .355 with 1 HR and 3 RBI during this last week. His splits look fantastic as he's hitting .306 with 7 HR and 22 RBI on the road and is a strong .341 in 41 at-bats against the Atlanta Braves.

As stated before, expect the combination of Odubel Herrera, Maikel Franco, and Cesar Hernandez to play a huge role in tonight's game as the Braves pitching is very weak and the Braves are "America's "Bottom-feeder", that provides a definete edge for the Phillies on the MLB Odds.

Will Freddie Freeman Be Traded?
Right about now, Freeman is the one and only reliable player on this squad as he leads the Braves in most offensive categories and is red hot. For the season, Freeman has 18 HR, 42 RBI, and a .283 BA. He's also hitting .478 this past week alone and has hit the Phillies well (4 HR, 8 RBI, .351 BA in 37 at-bats). The problem for Freeman is that he has nobody to knock in as his 42 ribbies indicate.

Boston Red Sox at Los Angeles Angels

Extreme Odds in Anaheim, California
I know that the Los Angeles Angels (46-56) have had their problems this season and I also know that Tim Lincecum (2-4, 8.70 ERA) doesn't exude confidence at this stage in his career, but when you have the best player in the game in Mike Trout to go along with first ballot hall of famer, Albert Pujols; not to mention Kole Calhoun, you shouldn't be such an extreme betting underdog at home, especially to a Boston Red Sox team that had to travel at least 3000 miles to get to California. Can Lincecum put up a respectable outing and make this a value play is the question?

The Angels are actually coming off of a 2-1 victory against Boston in which they won due to an error. Mike Trout would ignite fear into any fielder and that was the case for Hanley Ramirez. I have a strange suspicion that this momentum will carry over to this game for the Halos as Rick Porcello is certainly no Clayton Kershaw.

Time To Step It Up
The Angels are too good a team to be sitting in the basement in the American League West Division and Mike Trout is the guy to get them out. He helped in last night's victory and expect Trout to continue to play well. This is a player with a .425 OBP%. He strikes fear into opposing pitchers and saves games with his defense in the outfield. Thus far this season, Trout has more than pulled his weight with 19 HR, 65 RBI, and a .313 BA. With Albert Pujols hitting behind him and the amount of power that Pujols possesses, that's just enough to deter the opposition from giving the best player in the game a free pass every time that he steps to the plate. Los Angeles need's Mike Trout's bat in this game.

Finding his Cy Young Form
That will never happen for Tim Lincecum, but he need's to pitch better than he's been pitching lately or he'll be cut from the team. Lincecum has allowed 13 runs on 16 hits in 6 1/3 innings. This covers his last 2 starts. I think today is "Judgment Day" for Tim Lincecum as the Halos can ill-afford for him to "spit the bit" for another start. Look for Lincecum to play much better than he has recently, this pushes the Angels to be th MLB Pick for this game.
