The Oakland Athletics have cashed at 6-2 in their last eight games, including a 3-1 mark in their present homestand.

Bob Melvin’s club continues its stretch at O.co Coliseum in Monday’s MLB betting against the Toronto Blue Jays, with Oakland’s A.J. Griffin (9-7, 3.84 ERA) facing Toronto’s Esmil Rogers (3-4, 3.74 ERA).

A’s, Jays finish weekend with wins

Oakland rallied from an early 5-0 deficit to surge past the Los Angeles Angels in Sunday’s 10-6 victory, collecting as 155 home ‘chalk.’  Athletics slugger Yoenis Cespedes drilled a pair of doubles as part of a 3-for-5 day, finishing with four RBIs.

Toronto ended a 10-game homestand on the same afternoon, edging out the Houston Astros, 2-1. Blue Jays outfielder Colby Rasmus poked a walkoff single, scoring Emilio Bonifacio for the team’s cashed ticket as a 189 favorite.

Griffin collects as road ‘chalk’

Griffin notched his third win in four starts with Wednesday’s 4-3 victory as a 175 road favorite over Houston. The 25-year-old allowed all three of the Astros’ runs, tossing eight strikeouts en route to giving up six hits.

Oakland’s Coco Crisp cracked a two-run homer in the seventh inning, giving his club its tying and go-ahead runs. Athletics catcher John Jaso poked a long ball and double in a 2-for-3 day, while reliever Ryan Cook picked up his second save with 1 1/3 frames of hitless ball.

Rogers goes seven at home

Rogers logged a third straight no-decision later that night, with Toronto’s 8-3 defeat as 113 home ‘chalk’ to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dominican Republic native gave up two runs on 10 hits, departing after seven innings.

Blue Jays reliever Casey Janssen allowed Los Angeles to tie the matchup at the top of the ninth frame, 3-3, recording his second blown save of the year. Toronto’s Juan Perez surrendered two homers in the 10th inning, picking up his staff’s loss.

Back the UNDER in Oakland

Bet365 opened Griffin as a 166 home favorite, with early wagers on Toronto moving the premium to minus 164 MLB odds. The ‘total’ was first listed at 7 ½ (OVER minus 115), moving flat after initial UNDER wagers.

I am also backing the UNDER here as part of Monday’s sports picks, looking for a tight start to the series.

Griffin has held foes to a .290 OBP at home, with the UNDER cashing at 6-3-1 over the span’s 10 outings. The second-year hurler has allowed just seven runs over his last three starts at O.co Coliseum (22 2/3 IP), while the UNDER is 9-3-1 in Oakland’s last 13 spots that followed a victory.

Rogers has been stingy in his share of road outings, allowing six earned runs over his last six starts away from home (30 1/3 IP). The UNDER cashed at 4-2 in that span, while the 27-year-old faces an A’s lineup hitting a subpar .223 at home against righties.

Toronto has been held to 3.6 RPG over its last two road trips, managing just one run or less on the board in the opener of each journey. John Gibbons’ club has seen the UNDER collect at 4-1 in its last five road duels with the ‘total’ set between seven and 8 ½.

Look for the UNDER to get the money again here, adding to a 15-6 mark for the wager in Oakland’s last 21 home dates facing a right-handed starter.
