Recently, the Chicago Cubs came up with the biggest win of their season to knot this NLCS series with the Los Angeles Dodgers at 2-2. Tonight, the Cubs have their ace on the mound in Jon Lester and he must deliver as the Dodgers have Clayton Kershaw waiting in the wings in the next game of this series. See who we like in tonight's crucial matchup as our betting pick.

According to 5 Dimes Sportsbook, the Chicago Cubs are a -150 betting favorite and the total for tonight's game is listed at 7 runs. The Cubs are fairly good value here despite being the moderate road favorite as Jon Lester has been "light's out" all season long and this game has huge implications where Chicago is concerned.

Is The Season In the Balance Tonight For the Cubbies?

I wouldn't say that as they have home field advantage and are a 103 win team in the regular season, but the last thing that the Cubs want to do is lose with their ace in Jon Lester and be down 3-2 and having to face Clayton Kershaw in a game 6.

All of the pressure is in Chicago. This is an organization which hasn't won in over a century and were the clear-cut favorite to win this season. Chicago was by far the best team in baseball and if they don't win it all this season, I don't know when one could ever expect them to win. They possess the proper balance of above average starting pitching and above average hitting with Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo to lead the way. This is the type of game that good teams win.

"Light's Out Lester"

He may not be the caliber of pitcher that Clayton Kershaw is, but luckily for the Cubs, Jon Lester faces Kenta Maeda tonight in which Chicago has the clear edge.

Lester has been dominant all season long, posting a 19-5 record with a 2.44 ERA in the regular season in which he struck out almost 200 batters and held the opposition to a .211 batting average. The postseason has been no different for Lester as he's allowed just 1 run in 14 innings pitched. There's no reason to believe that Lester will fold like a cheap tent tonight as he's been the backbone of this pitching staff and everything is on the line. The winner of this series will go on to face the Cleveland Indians in the World Series. Look for Lester to come out strong and it will be up to the Chicago offense as they face Kenta Maeda.

Getting Hot At the Right Time

The Cubs went deep twice last night in their 10-2 victory over Los Angeles and Anthony Rizzo has finally had the big game that the Cubbies have been waiting for as he's been struggling in the playoffs. A game like game 4 can give Rizzo confidence as he went 3 for 5 with a home run and 3 runs batted in.

While Rizzo has only hit .250 in this series, he's been a star all season long, crushing 32 HR and 109 RBI's in the regular season and I expect him to be a different player for the rest of the postseason. Once a good player such as Rizzo finally has a big game in the post-season, they revert back to their regular season form and if you combine that with the offensive support that Kris Bryant and Ben Zobrist provide, Kenta Maeda and whoever else the Dodgers send out there will have a tough time.

We know there will be no Kershaw in relief as he gears up for game 6 and in a way, that's a good thing for Chicago, knowing that they don't have to worry about Kershaw in this game. Take the Cubs and lay the juice for your baseball pick. This is their big season and game 4 told the bettor all that we needed to know.
