The start of a new week brings with it new challenges in the MLB betting grind.

The MLB odds are starting to settle and our handicappers have dished out their final selections.

Braves (Minor) vs. Nationals (Strasburg)

Covered by Willie Bee

So, if you didn't know, the Braves are playing some pretty good baseball right now. They've won 10 straight games, giving them a mammoth 12.5-game lead in the NL East. Tonight they can extend that gap further versus Stephen Strasburg and the Nationals.

Whenever Strasburg's pitching at home, you know his team's going to be favored, regardless of how well the opposing team's playing. That's the case here, but Willie is going to take a chance on the OVER 7 runs with his MLB picks, as he doesn't see much value on a money-line play.

Dodgers (Greinke) vs. Cardinals (Wainwright)

Covered by Jeff Grant

We can't wait for this one. The Dodgers are one of the hottest teams in the majors and have quickly built up a 5.5 game lead in the NL West. They've been dominant on the road and will have a good chance of staying close with Zack Greinke on the mound tonight.

That being said, the Cardinals counter with ace Adam Wainwright, and the St. Louis bats have also shown some life over the last few days. Jeff has dissected the MLB odds for this game and has opted to stick with the home chalk (-150), as St. Louis looks to stay toe-to-toe with Pittsburgh in the division.

Yankees (Pettitte) vs. White Sox (Quintana)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Speaking of streaks, the White Sox are on the other side of the spectrum, having lost 10 consecutive games to put them at 40-69 overall. After a relatively successful debut season in which the team went 85-77, Robin Ventura has endured through a terrible sophomore campaign with Chicago.

There's a few reasons Ron believes the Yankees will out-class the White Sox in this series opener in the Windy City tonight. For one, they have more to play for at this point because they're still in the playoff race, and they also have the edge in terms of bullpen performance. New York is listed at +105 to win.

Rangers (Perez) vs. Angels (Williams)

Covered by Willie Bee

Those Angels just can't seem to catch a break. They coughed up the lead in the ninth last night and have now gone 3-7 over their previous 10. It's time for L.A. to play host to fellow AL West competitor Texas, with the Angels currently favored at -110.

Willie has analyzed this game closely and has a great writeup available for your viewing. To summarize, he thinks Martin Perez is the more reliable pitcher and it helps that the Rangers are firmly in the postseason conversation. Willie's backing Texas as the short road chalk.

Brewers (Thornburg) vs. Giants (Gaudin)

Covered by Ron Patrick

While this season has been incredibly disheartening for the Giants, they've at least managed to record a plus .500 record at AT&T Park. They'll take a 28-27 home mark into tonight's encounter which will feature Chad Gaudin (5-2, 2.64 ERA) and Tyler Thornburg (1-0, 2.22 ERA).

Thornburg is filling in as a starter and is coming off a great outing in which he went six innings and allowed four hits and no runs while striking out six. Gaudin, though, has been every bit as good and has a much bigger sample size to go by, one reason Ron is backing a win for San Francisco (-155) in this spot.

Biggest ML Favorites

Boston Red Sox (-190) at Houston Astros

Kansas City Royals (-160) vs. Minnesota Twins

San Francisco Giants (-155) vs. Milwaukee Brewers

St. Louis Cardinals (-145) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Seattle Mariners (-125) vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Detroit Tigers (-120) at Cleveland Indians

Here's the lowdown of Monday's baseball odds.

Braves (Minor) vs. Nationals (Strasburg)

Covered by Willie Bee

The Braves begin a new series against fellow division opponent Washington playing their best baseball of the season.

Don't expect any mercy from Stephen Strasburg though, who is set to start for the Nationals. Strasburg is enjoying another fine season, which is why we see the home team posted up as a -130 favorite at the sportsbooks.

Yankees (Pettitte) vs. White Sox (Quintana)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Two lefties duke it out tonight, with Andy Pettitte getting the call for New York and Jose Quintana on the mound for Chicago.

Quintana has been the better of the two, at least this season, but let's not lose sight of Chicago's horrendous recent play. The White Sox have lost 10 games in a row, so that explains the MLB betting lines (both teams at -105) being as even as they are.

Rangers (Perez) vs. Angels (Williams)

Covered by Willie Bee

A nice 4-0 shutout win over the Athletics means the Rangers are now just 2.5 games back of first place in the division.

Next up for Texas is a trip to sunny Los Angeles to play the Angels, who just lost a heart-breaker in the top of the ninth yesterday. Though L.A. is at home, they're listed as underdogs (+105) for this visit of the Rangers.

Brewers (Thornburg) vs. Giants (Gaudin)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Chad Gaudin has been a complete stud for the Giants, one of the few highlights for a club that's now 12 games behind the top spot in the NL West. It's been a season to forget for San Francisco fans, that's for sure.

The Giants are at least expected to win tonight, having been set as near -160 chalk against a Milwaukee team that's gone 20-33 on the road.
