Morning MLB Odds Report
We've got some major chalk on our hands today, with Texas (-200 at Houston), Detroit (-190 vs. Cleveland), Tampa Bay (-175 vs. San Diego), and St. Louis (-170 vs. Colorado) acting as the standout favorites.
Below you'll find the games that we will analyze MLB betting odds closely.
Braves vs. Giants
Whenever you've got two guys like Matt Cain and Tim Hudson on the mound, you know the odds are going to be close. That's certainly true tonight, as the Giants are favored at just -120 at home.
Hudson (4-1, 3.83 ERA) is outperforming Cain (1-2, 5.57 ERA) thus far this season, but the latter is coming off one of his finest starts of 2013, in which he held the Dodgers to five hits and one run over 7 and 1/3 innings. We can't wait to see which side Jeff Grant likes with these two experienced hurlers going at it.
Rockies vs. Cardinals
The Rockies have been a little shaky lately, losing two in a row and six of their last ten. The road gets no easier as they now have to contend with the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. St. Louis has gone 7-3 over their last ten.
Pitching wise, the edge would have to go to the Cardinals. They'll have Shelby Miller starting and he's given up three or less runs in all six of his starts this season. Colorado's Jon Garland (3-2, 4.75 ERA) hasn't been that impressive, but will Joe Freda still like the value on the Rockies (+160) in this spot?
Yankees vs. Royals
New York begins a three-game set with Kansas City tonight, with Phil Hughes set to do battle with Wade Davis. The Royals are barely favored at -110, and the total can be found at 8.5 runs.
We're not used to seeing Kansas City be so competitive, but they are really playing well through the early stages of 2013. They're at 18-13 overall and have gone 10-5 at home, so the Yankees are really going to have to make the most of their opportunities tonight. Ron Patrick will have his MLB pick for this game later.
Phillies vs. Diamondbacks
Patrick Corbin out-dueled Cole Hamels en route to a 2-1 win for Arizona last night. The Diamondbacks will be hoping to get another gem out of Ian Kennedy, and the odds (-160) suggest they should have little problem overcoming the Phillies and their struggling offense.
Philadelphia gives the ball to Tyler Cloyd, who will be making his first start of the season. The young righty is taking the place of the injured Roy Halladay and will be looking to make a good impression in Phoenix. Make sure you check back with us to see what angle Ron Patrick has for this one.
Blue Jays vs. Red Sox
Willie Bee turns his attention to Boston's series with Toronto. The Red Sox were outplayed by Minnesota, losing three of four games at home, so you know they'll be trying to get off to a good start against Toronto.
The Blue Jays lost a tough one last night, and the fact they have to turn to Ramon Ortiz tonight doesn't bode well. Ortiz has a career 4.93 ERA, while Boston will be able to call on the undefeated Jon Lester (4-0, 3.37 ERA).
Angels vs. White Sox
It's a battle between two of the most disappointing teams here. The White Sox are at 14-18 on the season, while everyone's aware of how poorly the Angels (12-22 overall, 5-13 on the road) have been performing.
L.A's Tommy Hanson will be pitching opposite Chicago's Dylan Axelrod. Early MLB odds offerings have the White Sox as small -110 favorites. You can side with the reeling Angels at +100 – is that what Willie Bee will decide to do for his free picks tonight?[gameodds]3/226368/43-999997-192-227/us[/gameodds]
