The Milwaukee Brewers have been a team on a mission, with back to back 10 run games. They look to shut the door on the Seattle Mariners and go for the sweep.

But ... standing in their way is one of the best pitchers in the majors in Felix Hernandez (11-5, 2.39)

First pitch is set for 4:10 pm ET at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington. This game can be seen on MLB TV.

With Hernandez starting, the Mariners are a heavy -180 betting favorite according to Bet 365. The total for the game is 7 runs.

A Little Too Late

The Brewers have been a run producing machine. Aside from back to back 10 run outputs, the Brew Crew have averaged a .328 batting average and 5.7 runs per game in their last 7 games. This has enabled them to finally start winning, taking 5 out of those 7 games.

In yesterday’s game, the Brewers belted out 16 hits including 4 hits from catcher Jonathan Lucroy. Lucroy had been in a slump, but is a lifetime 7 for 17 against Hernandez and you should expect to see him in the lineup today. Milwaukee is a team that can get the job done offensively; it’s their pitching that leaves a lot to be desired.

With a starting a top four in the lineup of Aoki (.281), Segura (.311), Lucroy (.281), and Gomez (.289), Hernandez will need to be his best, but Brewers starter, Wily Peralta (8-11, 4.42) will also need to be his best if he wants to compete with King Felix.

Wily Peralta

Peralta is basically one of the examples of why the Brewers are a losing team. He’s a below average pitcher that depends on the hitting to bail him out.

In his last start, he actually came through for Milwaukee with 6 1/3 solid innings as he allowed just 1 run on 5 hits with 6 strikeouts en route to a 3-1 win over the Giants. He’ll need to repeat that performance here.

King Felix

The situation could be a problem for one of the best pitchers in baseball over the last decade. The Brewers have been tearing the cover off of the baseball despite Seattle being  a better baseball team. Hernandez seeks to straighten things out for Seattle as he hasn’t picked up a win in his last 4 decisions. It’s another great season for Hernandez and this year he can’t complain about lack of run support.

Seattle has dropped off as of late and are 12.5 games behind the Oakland Athletics with 46 games to go for the final wild card spot in the American League. The Mariners would need nothing short of a miracle to make the playoffs, but a victory here is important as they don’t want to get swept by the Brewers.

Milwaukee is facing a top-flight pitcher and don’t expect to see them score 10 runs here. That said, the total of 7 is quite low, even with Hernandez starting. This game should go well over the 7 runs for our our money making MLB picks.
