Terrific series between the Dodgers and Mets opens at Citi Field on Friday. The Mets are -145 on BetOnline MLB odds for Game 1 with a total of 7. Let's cash in on what's to come!

What You Need To Know
Of course the Mets won the NL East Division last year and the Dodgers took the NL West for a third straight year. That led to a collision in the NL Division Series. The Dodgers had home-field advantage and two of the best three pitchers in the National League in 2015 in Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw, but they lost the series in five games. That basically led to the firing of Dodgers manager Don Mattingly, who now has the same job in Miami. I could easily see these teams meeting again this October, although I believe the Mets will finish second in the NL East to Washington, and San Francisco currently has a comfortable lead over the Dodgers in the NL West. Perhaps a wild-card meeting between the teams?

The Mets are currently +550 on MLB odds to repeat as NL champions, while the Dodgers are +900 on MLB picks.

This series will be the last time these teams play in 2016 unless it is in the postseason. The teams split four low-scoring games in Los Angeles from May 9-12. No game saw more than seven runs scored. The Dodgers totaled 13 runs and the Mets 10. Rookie of the Year candidate Corey Seager led Dodgers hitters in that series, going 5-for-14 with a homer, two RBIs and three runs scored. Adrian Gonzalez was also 5-for-14 with an RBI. Yasmani Grandal was 3-for-13 with two homers and four RBIs. Yasiel Puig was just 2-for-15 with four strikeouts. For the Mets, the team's top hitter in the series was actually pitcher Noah Syndergaard, who goes Saturday. He had two homers and four RBIs in one game. Yoenis Cespedes was 4-for-14 with an RBI. Curtis Granderson was 3-for-15 with seven strikeouts. David Wright was 0-for-10 with six strikeouts.

This will be a big weekend at Citi Field as the organization will honor the World Series champion 1986 Mets on the 30th anniversary of their title. The current Mets will wear ’86-style uniforms in every game.

Probable Pitchers
This was to be the spot of Dodgers left-hander Alex Wood. However, he has been pushed back a few days because of triceps soreness. He pitched well vs. the Mets on May 10, allowing one earned run and four hits over 6.1 innings in a no-decision.

With all due respect to Wood, him being scratched makes this game all the more exciting. That's because Los Angeles is calling up arguably the top pitching prospect in all of baseball: 19-year-old lefty Julio Urias, whom the team signed when he was just 16 out of the Mexican League. Whenever the Dodgers talked big trade this offseason, teams always asked for Urias and were told NO!

Urias is 4-1 with a 1.10 ERA in eight outings (seven starts) at Triple-A Oklahoma City with 44 strikeouts and eight walks in 41 innings this year. He was working on a 27-inning scoreless streak. Because Urias is from Mexico and left-handed, he is often compared to Dodgers legend Fernando Valenzuela, who won the NL Rookie of the Year and Cy Young Awards in 1981. Urias will be the youngest starting pitcher in the majors since current Mariners ace Felix Hernandez debuted in 2005. Urias is the youngest Dodgers starting pitcher since Dick Calmus on Aug. 23, 1963. Even if Urias stays in the majors, he might head to the bullpen as the  Dodgers want to limit his season innings. Obviously no Mets have faced him.

New York counters with Jacob deGrom, who beat the Dodgers in both Game 1 and the clinching Game 5 of last year's NLDS. He allowed only two combined runs and 11 hits over 13 innings, striking out 20. DeGrom is 3-1 with a 3.07 ERA this season. He comes off his worst start of the year, allowing four runs and five hits against the Brewers but took a no-decision. He faced the Dodgers on May 10 and allowed two runs and eight hits over seven innings and didn't pick up a decision then. The Mets are 9-3 on MLB picks in deGrom's past 12 vs. NL West teams.

Gonzalez hits deGrom well in his regular-season career, going 5-for-10 with two homers and six RBIs. Chase Utley is 4-for-14 with a double. Puig is 2-for-9 with a solo homer. Seager is 1-for-3 with a double. Carl Crawford is 0-for-6 with two strikeouts. Mets and 'under.' I'm sure Urias is the real deal, but he'll undoubtedly be nervous and probably be pulled fairly early . The Dodgers are 3-8 in their past 11 series openers. The Mets are 18-6 in deGrom's past 24 home starts. The 'under' is 4-0 in his past four against the Dodgers.
