Sunday’s MLB betting has the Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners continuing their weekend series, with a marquee pitching matchup.

Cleveland’s Justin Masterson (6-2, 3.14 ERA) squares off with Seattle’s Felix Hernandez (5-2, 1.53 ERA) in a duel of righties, while the Indians look for a third straight win in the set as home ‘chalk.’

Indians, Kipnis pull out late win

Cleveland came away with a 5-4 victory as a 156 home favorite in Saturday’s battle with the Mariners, winning in the ninth inning after seeing a 4-0 lead erased. Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis crossed the plate after a walkoff grounder from mate Mark Reynolds, while Cleveland edged Seattle in hits, 13-9.

Mariners infielders Justin Smoak and Brendan Ryan both notched 2-for-3 days, cracking one homer each. Seattle’s Kyle Seager and Michael Morse were held to a combined 0-for-8, while the contest’s nine runs landed OVER the ‘total’ of 8 ½ by a ‘hook.’

Masterson outduels Yankees at home

Masterson notched his second straight victory in Monday’s 1-0 win for Cleveland as a 144 home favorite on the odds boards over the New York Yankees. The 28-year-old stood in for a complete nine innings, allowing four hits en route to tossing nine strikeouts.

Cleveland’s sole run came from Jason Kipnis’ homer in the first inning, while the rest of the Indians’ lineup was held to four hits. Indians outfielder Michael Bourn struck out twice in a 0-for-2 day from the leadoff spot, while mate Drew Stubs left four men on base in a 1-for-3 outing.

“King Felix” goes six in New York

Hernandez’ last start also came against the Yankees, logging a no-decision in Tuesday’s 4-3 defeat for Seattle as a 105 road dog. The Venezuela native held New York to one run over six innings, allowing five hits and two walks.

Mariners reliever Charlie Furbush recorded a blown save, giving up two runs in the seven frame. Seattle’s Raul Ibanez cracked a homer, while Michael Morse poked a double as part of a 3-for-5 night.

Back the OVER in Cleveland

Pinnacle Sports opened Masterson as a 110 home favorite, while first setting the ‘total’ at a flat seven. The four-game set between the foes concludes Monday, with Cleveland’s Scott Kazmir expected to oppose Seattle’s Hisashi Iwakuma.

I am adding the OVER in Sunday’s duel to my day of sports picks, looking for both lineups to put up just enough runs to finish north of the ‘total.’

Seattle’s Justin Smoak has hit 3-for-7 in the series, while having a 4-for-7 career mark in facing Masterson. The OVER is 16-6-1 in the Mariners’ last 23 road spots against a right-handed starter, while going 10-1-1 in the last 12 meetings that Cleveland has hosted between the rivals.

Hernandez has been stingy, but faces a few familiar bats in Cleveland’s lineup. Mark Reynolds and Nick Swisher have united for five homers in 55 at-bat’s facing “King Felix,” while Mike Aviles is 6-for-14 lifetime.

Umpire Mark Wegner has had the OVER cash at 4-3 in his last seven called games, making the wager 16-7 in the Minnesota native’s last 23 spots behind home plate. Look for the OVER to collect again here, despite the choice arms on the hill.
