Major League Baseball is in full swing and the Mariners are hoping to have a better season than last year. Seattle won two out of three games at Texas to open the season and now they host the Rangers at home. Will Texas get the revenge or will Seattle handle them again?

MLB record 0-0

MLB odds
The MLB Odds have made Seattle a -145 favorite like at Pinnacle Sports. This seems like a little bit too much but I really like starting pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma and I think he will have a strong outing. For my MLB pick today I will go ahead and take the favorite Mariners to get the home win.

Texas Rangers
Texas comes in 3-4 on the season, hitting just .201 as a team, and have Colby Lewis on the mound who comes in with a 4.50 ERA. His only start on the season was against the same Seattle team in which he gave up six hits and three earned runs giving up two homers. In the last three seasons he has been a steady starter for Texas but he has a 4.90 ERA and batters are hitting .284 against him. He doesn't have the electric type of stuff that could really shut teams down and I like for Seattle to continue to hit him well. The Rangers as a team have not got off to a good start averaging just four runs per game. They rank in the bottom part of the league in strikeouts, batting average, and hits per game averaging just 6.50 per contest so far this season. As well, the Rangers rank 27th in major league baseball in total bases per game and slugging percentage at just .314 so far. It is still early in the season but I anticipate for them to have a tough time today against Iwakuma at home where he has been tough the last three years.

Seattle Mariners
Seattle comes in hitting .232 as a team which ranks 21st in the league, averaging 2.2 home runs per game which ranks second, and have Iwakuma on the mound who pitched well against Texas to start the season.  Iwakuma had a solid outing at Texas allowing just two earned runs off of six hits in five innings. He has been one of Seattle's best pictures the last three seasons and it's nice to see him back from injury. In the last three years at home he has a 3.29 ERA with batters hitting just .228 against him. Career wise he has some extremely good numbers with the overall ERA of just 3.17 with a 1.09 WHIP. I watched him for several seasons in Japan and he was always lights out and I think some people may have forgotten just how good this guy is because he was injured for most of last season. At the plate Seattle struggled yesterday but they have a decent lineup up and down and right now rank in the middle of most teams in most categories. They do sport an average of 15.20 total bases per game which ranks 11th in the league and they also average 4.80 RBIs which ranks 13th. Today should be a different story facing a pitcher they have already had some success against and facing him at home. I anticipate for them to have a lot of quality at-bats and put up more than enough runs to support Iwakuma to get their first home win of the season.
