MLB odds makers realize Fernandez and Syndergaard can be lights out at times and made the total on this game decently low. Will these pitchers dominate the day?

Miami Marlins vs. New York Mets
MLB odds makers have set the total for this game at 6, like at Pinnacle Sports -105. This seems like a really low total but these two guys have electric stuff so for one of my MLB picks I will back under the total in this matchup. I expect both of these guys to have a stellar day.

Miami Marlins
José Fernandez allowed five earned runs in five innings in his first game of the year but this comes in with a career 2.50 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. I fully expect him to bounce back from that game versus Detroit were although he allowed more runs than he is used to, he struck out 13 guys. What also impressed me was the fact he gave up just one walk in that outing. Taking on the defending national league champs should really get him going today and I expect him to be his usual dominant self.

Statistically, Miami has been decent so far putting up some runs on the season and they have one of the best hitters in the game in Giancarlo Stanton. However, facing Syndergaard on the road will be a really difficult task and I don't expect them to have a lot of success today. So far they rank 14th averaging 4.5 runs per game and they also average 10 hits per game, which ranks fourth in the major leagues. They haven't struck out a lot and have had some decent plate appearances but this will be the best pitcher they have faced so far in this young season.

New York Mets
Noah Syndergaard comes in with a career 3.12 ERA and 1.03 WHIP along with a great first outing this season allowing zero runs in six innings. In that first outing at Kansas City, he also had nine strikeouts and just one walk, looking extremely dominant. Today he gets the start at home where in the last three years he sports a 2.46 ERA with batters hitting just.196 against him. I expect them to go deep into the ball game and give the Marlins a lot of trouble at the plate.

Offensively, the Mets have not done a lot so far this season, averaging just under three runs per game which ranks them 28th in the major leagues as well as just under six hits per game, which ranks them dead last in the league. They are also striking out a little bit too much at almost 9 times per game which could bode unfavorably for them today against a really good strikeout pitcher in Fernandez. This game has all the makings of a really good pitcher's duel and I've a hard time seeing these teams score a lot of runs today.
