The Orioles travel to Texas to face the Rangers in the first of a 4-game weekend set. Baltimore just had their bubble burst and the question regarding Tillman is… faux or fo’ real? Check our MLB pick.

Baltimore Orioles (Tillman) at Texas Rangers (Hamels) (-130) 8:05 ET
The combination of solid Baltimore pitching and hitting, lifted the Orioles to a 7-0 beginning in which they plated 40 runs! Before you get too excited about that, understand that it included 5 home games vs. the likes of weak opposition, Minnesota and Tampa Bay (a combined 3-13) and a pair of victories against the bottom end of a weak Red Sox rotation.

In the 4-2 win by Boston over these Birds last night, they were shut down by Kelly, who won for only the second time since they fought with swords. Now, Baltimore looks to bounce back behind Tillman, who pitched a solid first game in a (6-1) victory over Tampa Bay last Friday. In so doing, he allowed just 1 run and 4 hits in 5 IP. Check the betting lines for this match right here.

It was reminiscent of the time 2 and 3 seasons ago, in which Tillman would record a record of 29-13 with a 3.52 ERA. Last year, the record dipped to 11-11 with a 4.99 ERA. Pitching on the road was a particular problem for Tillman who, in 15 road starts, had a bloated 5.33 ERA. You can now see why we must question whether his initial start of the season was FAUX or whether it was FO’ REAL?

Must Read: Handicappers' Predictions For Thursday

Succeeding against the Rangers in this 4-game set will be a tall task for Baltimore
Texas was 6-1 in this series at this site last year. Tonight, they send their ace to the mound in Hamels. Hamels languished a bit in his early starts after being traded to Texas. But since he has gotten settled, the Rangers have won his last 12 regular season starts, as Hamels has posted a record of 9-0 with a 2.96 ERA.

This has certainly been reinforced in his early work this season. In 2 starts, Hamels is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA. This includes a (3-2) victory over Seattle in the season opener, April 4th, when he allowed just 4 hits in 7 IP.

Hamels followed that up with a successful 6 innings on the mound in a (4-1) win vs. the Angels on Saturday, when he allowed a single run and 4 hits. No surprise if Hamels carries over his solid work to this game, as in 8 innings of a 4-1 win vs. Baltimore last season, he allowed just 2 hits with 10 Ks.

It sure looks like Hamels is the one who is FO’ REAL! I invite you to put the MLB odds in your favor and join me in my MLB pick on the Texas Rangers tonight.
