The Milwaukee Brewers rallied to even out their weekend set with the Philadelphia Phillies, cashing as 122 home dogs in Friday’s 5-4 victory.

Saturday night’s rematch has Brewers southpaw Tom Gorzelanny (1-0, 2.01 ERA) opposing Phillies righty Kyle Kendrick (6-3, 3.12 ERA), with MLB odds makers expecting a close contest.

Brewers notch walkoff win

Brewers shortstop Jean Segura drilled a two-run triple in Friday’s triumph, tying the contest in the seventh inning, 4-4. The slugger later scored his side’s winning run, driven in by mate Aramis Ramirez with a walkoff single.

Philadelphia’s Erik Kratz poked his eight homer of the year, while mates Jimmy Rollins and Delmon Young notched one RBI each. Phillies infielders Freddy Galvis and Michael Young both logged errors, while held to a combined 0-for-7 night.

Gorzelanny moves to start

Gorzelanny makes his first start of the season for Milwaukee, following his share of relief throughout the year. The Illinois native faced the Phillies in last week’s road set, allowing no hits or runs over two frames.

Gorzelanny’s last outing as a starter came this past October, recording a no-decision against Philadelphia in a 4-2 victory for the Washington Nationals as 150 home ‘chalk.’  The Phillies drove in one run over 3 2/3 IP, while striking out five times en route to four hits.

Kendrick goes nine for win

Kendrick notched a second straight victory in Monday’s 7-2 win for Philadelphia as a 190 home favorite against the Miami Marlins. The 28-year-old allowed six hits over the contest’s full nine innings, while tossing five strikeouts.

Phillies outfielder Domonic Brown cracked one of his side’s trio of homers, logging a 3-for-4 night. Philadelphia finished with 11 hits, including slugger Ryan Howard’s 14th double of the season.

Back the Phillies as road dogs

Bet365 opened Gorzelanny as a 110 home favorite, while first setting the ‘total’ at 8 ½ (UNDER minus 120). The four-game series concludes Sunday, with Milwaukee’s Kyle Lohse facing Philadelphia’s Jonathan Pettibone in a duel of righties.

I am adding the Phillies and Kendrick to Saturday’s sports picks, looking to cash a ticket at a short dog price.

Kendrick tossed eight frames of shutout ball last August in Milwaukee, holding the Brewers’ lineup to three hits. The Houston native has gone on to toss some tight road outings this year, giving up just one homer in 35 IP – with a 0.91 WHIP and .230 OBP.

Gorzelanny may not go deep here, while facing a Phillies lineup that has hit .262 against left-handed pitching on the road. Philadelphia’s Erik Kratz has one homer in three career at-bat’s facing Gorzelanny, while mate Jimmy Rollins has a 5-for-12 mark.

Philadelphia is 7-3 in its last 10 spots that came after a defeat, while going 4-1 in Kendrick’s five starts as an underdog. Milwaukee is 2-5 in its last seven matchups against right-handed starters, while struggling to find back-to-back wins with a 1-8 mark in its last nine games following a victory.

Look for the Phillies to collect at plus odds  for our MLB picks here, halting the Brewers’ momentum after blowing Friday’s 4-0 lead.
