Saturday night’s rematch has Philadelphia’s Kyle Kendrick (7-5, 3.59 ERA) opposing Atlanta’s Tim Hudson (4-7, 4.22 ERA) in a duel of right-handed hurlers for our MLB betting.

The Philadelphia Phillies held on for a 5-4 win at home in Friday’s opener with the Atlanta Braves, cashing at minus 155 MLB odds

Phillies, Quintero top Braves

Phillies catcher Humberto Quintero cracked a long ball and double in Friday’s affair, finishing with three RBIs. Philadelphia’s Jimmy Rollins and Ben Revere both logged 2-for-4 nights, while Ryan Howard homered from the cleanup spot.

Braves mates Dan Uggla and Andrelton Simmons staged a late surge of four RBIs, with Uggla finishing 2-for-4. Atlanta’s Justin Upton and Brian McCann united to hit 4-for-7, while the Braves were edged out in hits, 10-9.

Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon notched his 18th save, combining with reliever Antonio Bastardo to allow one hit over the final two frames. The contest’s nine runs leaped OVER the ‘total’ of 7 ½, with Braves starter Paul Maholm logging his staff’s loss after Hudson was scratched.

Kendrick shelled in L.A.

Kendrick recorded his first loss in four starts with Sunday’s 6-1 defeat for Philadelphia as a 103 road dog against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Houston native gave up four runs on 10 hits, lasting six innings.

Philadelphia’s Chase Utley and Ryan Howard both left three men on base, held to a combined 1-for-8. Phillies third baseman Michael Young doubled from the leadoff spot, while Jimmy Rollins notched an RBI in the ninth frame to avoid a shutout.

Hudson, Braves beat D-backs

Hudson has not pitched since last Saturday’s no-decision, with Atlanta logging an 11-5 victory as a 145 home favorite over the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 37-year-old allowed four runs over 5 2/3 frames, giving up five hits.

Atlanta hung seven runs in the eighth inning, including a double from Jason Heyward to drive in Reed Johnson and Andrelton Simmons. Braves outfielder Justin Upton went 3-for-4, while Freddie Freeman and Brian McCann united for four RBIs.

Back the UNDER on Saturday

Bet365 opened Hudson as a 120 road favorite, holding steady in early MLB betting action. The ‘total’ was first posted at eight, followed by initial OVER wagers driving the number north to 8 ½.

I am adding the UNDER in this contest to Saturday’s sports picks, looking for a tight duel with Hudson’s start moved up a day to this spot. My initial lean in Friday’s opener was taking the UNDER with Hudson matched up against Cliff Lee, but the wager washed due to Hudson’s scratch.

Hudson has held foes to six earned runs and no homers over his last three road outings (20 IP). The UNDER has gone 5-1 in Hudson’s last six outings overall, while cashing at a 4-1 mark in Atlanta’s last five spots that came after a loss.

Kendrick faced the Braves in three home starts last year, holding Fredi Gonzalez’ club to eight runs over the span’s 17 innings. The 28-year-old’s pair of home outings in June saw his arm allow just three runs in 16 2/3 IP, giving up a combined eight hits to the Washington Nationals and Miami Marlins.

The UNDER is 4-1 in Atlanta’s last five road games facing a right-handed starter, while also going 4-1 in Hudson’s last five outings away from home against clubs with losing records. Umpire Paul Nauert has seen the UNDER collect at a 5-0-1 clip in his last six called affairs, with teams combining for a subpar 5.2 RPG in that stretch.

Look for the UNDER to get the money again here, staying south of the matchup’s rising ‘total.’

Pick: UNDER 8 ½ at Bet365
