Thursday’s finale has a matchup of right-handed starters slated, with Atlanta’s Kris Medlen (10-12 3.74 ERA) facing Cleveland’s Ubaldo Jimenez (9-8, 3.95 ERA). Let's review the betting lines for this one.

The Atlanta Braves pulled out a second straight home win over the Cleveland Indians in Wednesday’s 3-2 triumph, collecting at minus 105 MLB odds

Braves, Johnson collect again

Braves third baseman poked a walkoff single from the cleanup spot, driving in leadoff man Jordan Schafer for the club’s victory. Atlanta’s Craig Kimbrel logged his staff’s winning decision, allowing no hits in the top of the ninth frame.

Cleveland’s Mike Avilies notched both of his side’s RBIs, poking a homer and sacrifice fly. The Indians were edged in hits, 10-9, while the close contest’s five runs dipped UNDER the ‘total’ of 7 ½.

Medlen falls in St. Louis

Medlen lasted six innings in Friday’s 3-1 defeat for Atlanta to the St. Louis Cardinals, picking up the staff’s loss as a 139 road dog. The 27-year-old allowed all three of St. Louis’ runs, giving up six hits.

Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman drove in his side’s sole run, finishing with a 2-for-4 night. Atlanta’s Jordan Schafer and Justin Upton both went 0-for-3 from their lineup’s top two spots, while the tight affair’s combined four runs plunged UNDER the ‘total’ of seven.

Jimenez fans 10 in defeat

Jimenez logged a third loss in four starts on the same night’s card, with Cleveland losing to the Minnesota Twins, 5-1. The Dominican Republic native tossed 10 strikeouts over six innings, while allowing two runs on five hits.

Indians catcher Carlos Santana notched an RBI from the cleanup slot, coming away with a 2-for-3 outing. Cleveland’s Drew Stubbs recorded his club’s sole error, while striking out twice in a 0-for-3 night.

Back the OVER on Thursday

many sportsbooks opened Medlen as a 147 home favorite, while first listing the ‘total’ at eight (UNDER minus 120). Atlanta’s weather forecast calls for a partly-cloudy 85 degrees, with calm winds and a 15 percent chance of rain.

I am adding the OVER in this contest to Thursday’s card of free picks, looking for octane to be raised in this finale.

Medlen’s last three starts against American League lineups saw the righty allow 11 earned runs over the span’s 14 1/3 IP. Cleveland’s Mike Aviles and Michael Bourn have united to hit a combined 2-for-4 in their career facing Medlen, while Atlanta has seen the OVER cash at 4-1 in its last five matchups that came in Game 3 of a series.

Jimenez has given up a sizable 1.46 WHIP and .337 OBP away from home, while surrendering five homers over his last six stints (30 2/3 IP). Atlanta’s Freddie Freeman and Justin Upton have drilled three long balls in 28 at-bat’s facing Jimenez, with Upton adding two doubles and a triple to his count.

Umpire Jeff Nelson saw the OVER cash in a called affair at Turner Field earlier this month, with Atlanta topping the Miami Marlins in a 9-4 result. Look for another OVER ticket to collect here for our MLB picks, adding to the wager’s 3-0-1 mark in Jimenez’ last four outings that followed a Quality Start.
