Can the Yankees bats come back alive after being stymied by Dallas Keuchel last night? Read our betting preview to get your answer plus an MLB pick to win big tonight.

Yankees and Astros resume Series at Minute Maid on Friday
The Astros will once again host the Yankees tonight at 8:10 PM ET. This will be the second of a four game series, and Houston won the opener 4-0 on Thursday. My area of concentration when handicapping this game was geared toward the total which is currently 8.5 across the board.

Starting Pitchers
The Yankees right-hander Nathan Eovaldi will be on the mound today. He’s displayed terrible form during his previous three starts, posting a large 8.56 ERA, and each of those games went over the total. As a matter of fact, Eovaldi is 7-0 over the total in his last seven starts with a lofty 5.91 ERA, and an unimpressive 1.69 WHIP. Eovaldi is allowing a horrible average of 11.8 hits per 9.0 innings pitched in 2015.

The Astros Vincent Velazquez will be making only his fourth start of the season tonight. After having a successful 2015 debut in which he allowed 0 earned runs in 5.0 innings pitched, his last two haven’t gone as smoothly. In those two starts, Velazquez has a 6.75 ERA and both games went over the total.

Power Ball
The Astros and Yankees are the top two teams in baseball regarding home runs hit. Houston tops Major League Baseball with 107 homers, and the Yankees are second with 98. The Astros have hit 59 homers in just 38 games this season at Minute Maid Park. Since the start of June, these two teams have combined to hit 74 home runs in 46 games.

Yankees Offensive Roll hits Brick Wall
The Yankees torrid offensive pace in recent games came to a screeching halt last night. They ran into one of the most underrated starting pitchers in all of baseball. The Astros Dallas Keuchel threw a complete game shutout in the series opener. Prior to last night, the Yankees had scored 6 runs or more in six of their previous seven games. Thursday was also the first time that “The Bronx Bombers” had gone under the total in eight games. It was also the first time the Astros went under the number in their last six at home.

Final Analysis
I’m looking for both of these teams to score early and often tonight. One of my MLB picks for Friday will be indicative of that prediction. My wager will be made at Pinnacle considering they offer me the best price of any of the sportsbooks.

MLB Pick: Yankees and Astros to go over the total of 8.5 (+102) at Pinnacle.
