The Giants are currently on a 6 game losing streak and are looking to put the streak to an end as they have a distinct advantage in today’s pitching matchup against Colorado,(41-41).

The San Francisco Giants (38-42) are having one of their worst season in many years. The Giants have always been on top of the National League West Division but are finding it difficult this season.

First pitch is set for today at 4:10 pm ET at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.

Bet 365 Sportsbook currently list the Giants as a -122 betting favorite and the total for the game is 9.5 runs.

The Edge

The Giants can possibly see their losing streak end as Madison Bumgarner (7-5, 3.20) takes the mound  and he goes up against Drew Pomeranz  for the Rockies. Pomeranz hasn’t pitched this season and is coming off of a 2-9 campaign in 2012 in which he had an unappealing 4.93 ERA.

For Colorado to win, they’ll need the hitting of Cargo, Michael Cuddyer, and Willin Rosario.

Note: Please check starting lineups before game time!

Sunday’s are days where players and catchers especially, get the day off. The Rockies are notorious for giving players the day off on Sunday. If you don’t see Cargo or Rosario in your lineup, this will put you at a disadvantage for your MLB picks. When playing, Troy Tulowitzki had multiple Sundays off.

Some teams don’t follow this procedure, but the Rocks do.

Madison Bumgarner

The Giants can take solace in the fact that Bumgarner has pitched well as of late. They’ll need his best effort as the air is thin at Coors Field and the baseball can be flying out at anytime, making the pitcher less of a factor.

In his last 4 games, Bumgarner has provided all quality outings in which he’s allowed 7 runs and 15 hits in 26 innings. The Giants, who aren’t known for a killer offense, desperately need  to take advantage of facing Pomeranz.

Colorado defeated San Francisco on Saturday in a relatively light hitting affair in a 2-1 victory. Cargo has slowed down as his batting average has dipped below the .300 mark and hasn’t hit a home run in his last 9 games. In those 9 games, fantasy leaguers have layed off of Cargo as he only has 2 RBI in that period of time. This is good news for San Fran.

Buster Posey

Posey is 2 for 2 with a homer and 2 RBI lifetime against Pomeranz. Aside from that, he’s one of the best hitting catchers in baseball. Even in a non-productive game for San Francisco, Posey still managed to get 2 hits and the only RBI of the game for the Giants.

On the season, Posey is batting .324 with 11 HR and 47 RBI. He’s on a 5 game hitting streak and is 8 for 12 in his last 3 games with 2 HR and 4 RBI.

San Francisco would be smart not to sit him. He plays similar to Joe Mauer and Derek Jeter. All of these players are gamers and will do anything for their team to win.

Without Tulo, I definitely don’t expect Cargo or Cuddyer to sit. That said, the Giants need this game in the worst way. The pitching advantage should give them the slight edge at Coors Field.

Pick- San Francisco -122 at Bet 365 (good odds considering that Pomeranz is starting for Colorado)
