There's some big chalk on Wednesday's baseball betting card, with one of the heaviest moneylines in San Francisco where the Giants and Reds wrap up their 3-game series.

Cincinnati Reds vs San Francisco Giants
The second half of the season has not gotten off to a good start for the San Francisco Giants. A win Tuesday night could help change things, though, and another Wednesday afternoon vs. the Cincinnati Reds would give them a huge lift heading into a long weekend series with the Washington Nationals.

Cincinnati and San Francisco will play the rubber game of their set at 3:45 PM (ET), one of six matinees on today's baseball betting card. Dan Straily and Madison Bumgarner serve as the initial matchup on the mound, the MLB odds clearly favoring Bumgarner and the Giants in the -230 to -250 range. Each of the first two games of the set easily went 'over' the totals, and Heritage has today's bar set at 7 (O -110).

Jay Bruce's two homers helped the Reds to a 7-5 decision in Monday's series opener, Cincinnati closing as a +115 underdog in that affair. Tuesday's tilt closed around the same price with the Giants holding on for a 9-7 victory that was just their second win since the All-Star Game.

The Reds are one of just two National League teams that don't have a losing record at AT&T Park, the teams a level 30-30 after Tuesday's contest. Four of the five battles between the clubs this season have gone 'over' the totals.

Mad-Bum Looking For 1st Win Since Before Break
Straily leads the Reds in quality starts, 11 of his 18 assignments going into that column. Both of his last two trips to the mound fit that bill, the former Marshall standout hurling seven scoreless frames in a 1-0 Reds win at home vs. Milwaukee, and following that up with six innings of 2-run baseball last Friday against the Diamondbacks in Cincinnati.

He also beat the Giants at Great American when the clubs met in May, working into the seventh and allowing three runs in an eventual 7-4 Reds victory. That was just the second time Straily faced San Francisco, the other also resulting in a dubya while he was with the Oakland A's in 2013. Today will be the first time he has worked off this mound.

Both of Bumgarner's post All-Star Game starts came on the road and ended in defeat for the Giants, the southpaw taking a no-decision last Friday in New York against the Yankees. He has been extremely stingy when chucking in San Fran where Bumgarner sports a 1.64 ERA and opponents are batting just .178 off him. The Giants are 7-4 in those 11 outings.

This 26 year old missed the Reds when the clubs met earlier this year, but has shined against them in recent years, earning three victories the last four times he faced them with a 2.40 ERA. Joey Votto (5-14, HR) and Billy Hamilton (4-10) have giving Bumgarner the most trouble in the past.

Umpire Notes, Mother Nature & A Free Pick
Los Angeles native Kerwin Danley is in line to call balls and strikes for the series finale, bringing a pretty level 9-8 O/U record vs. baseball betting totals into the affair. That record was more lopsided until mid-June when Danley started an active string of six consecutive 'under' winners. He has been a good guy to have behind the dish for heavy home chalk bettors, those squads 3-1 when the moneyline is +180 or higher. His lone appearance at AT&T Park this season was an 'over' winner, that contest taking place just before his 'under' streak started, but his four previous games on this diamond never made it to the totals.

Sunny skies, temps in the mid-60s and a 10-12 mph west wind (out to center) is in the forecast, which sounds perfect for an 'over' play given how the teams have been hitting the first two games. But my free MLB pick is going to be on the Reds at a very juicy price against a Giants team that simply hasn't been itself the last two weeks.

Free My pick: Reds +220
Best Line Offered: at Bookmaker
Season: 38-31 (+8.35)

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2991761, "sportsbooksIds":[93,238,1096,43,169], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
