A number of excellent pitchers will be in action throughout the day, as we start off the day by analyzing the opening MLB odds.
Yankees (Pettitte) vs. Red Sox (Doubront)

Covered by Swingin' Johnson

Though Felix Doubront lasted only four innings in his latest start (on the road against Kansas City), he has notoriously been good versus New York. Plus, Andy Pettitte has been shaky this season.

Doubront and the Red Sox are therefore significant favorites at about -165 at the sportsbooks.

Nationals (Jordan) vs. Braves (Wood)

Covered by Jeff Grant

Two young studs in Alex Wood and Taylor Jordan take the hill tonight at Turner Field. Wood has allowed only four earned runs over his last 19 innings and will be facing Washington for the first time.

Atlanta has been dominant at home this season and they can be backed at -170.

Dodgers (Greinke) vs. Phillies (Lee)

Covered by Ron Patrick

What a terrific game this should be. Cliff Lee is 10-5 with a 3.18 ERA, continuing to perform at a high level despite constant trade speculation, while Zack Greinke is 10-3 with a 3.21 ERA.

The Dodgers, however, are obviously the hotter team, having won eight in a row, resulting in extremely tight lines (-105 on both sides) for this game in the City of Brotherly Love.

Mariners (Iwakuma) vs. Rangers (Holland)

Covered by Willie Bee

Another great pitching matchup features left-hander Derek Holland against savvy righty Hisashi Iwakuma.

The Rangers have been one of the best teams in the major leagues lately, and with a lot to play, plus the home-field advantage, MLB odds makers have listed Texas at -165 to win tonight. The total is relatively high at 8.5 runs.

Blue Jays (Dickey) vs. Rays (Hellickson)

Covered by Jeff Grant

Though Jeremy Hellickson and R.A. Dickey both have the ability to shut down down opposing lineups, they've both been pretty inconsistent throughout the season, making it hard to feel confident in a play on the money-line.

The Rays are right on the heels of the Red Sox in the AL East and will subsequently be very motivated to get after Dickey here. The home team is at -140 chalk.

Astros (Peacock) vs. Angels (Williams)

Covered by Jeff Grant

An epic battle between the bottom two teams in the AL West. Brad Peacock may have a 6.43 ERA overall, but he's looked mighty good over his last two starts and could give the Angels some problems.

For L.A., Jerome Williams picks up another start. He hasn't reached the sixth inning in two consecutive assignments, but the Angels are still favored for our baseball picks at a price of -155.

Baltimore Orioles (-175) vs. Colorado Rockies

Atlanta Braves (-170) vs. Washington Nationals

Texas Rangers (-165) vs. Seattle Mariners
