It’s a big weekend of baseball and starting on Friday, I have a couple of MLB picks tonight that I see a lot of value in. Let’s take a look at what the MLB Odds have in store for us here in late April.

Reds vs. Nationals

Washington’s offense woke up yesterday behind Gio Gonzalez to the tune of an 8-1 victory. Now they play the Reds and Homer Bailey and I see no reason why the Nats can’t hit a big run total again. The Nats will pitch Jordan Zimmermann who has been great already this season with a 2.67 ERA.

For Bailey I don’t think he will have a good game. In his only road start this season he gave up 7 earned runs on 9 hits to the Cardinals, and the Nats have as good or better of a lineup than St. Louis.

I see the Nats hitting well again tonight and getting a win behind Zimmermann. I think -125 on the money line is giving us pretty solid sports betting value for a game that seems as if it should have more chalk. If you’re feeling really bold, a bet on the +170 run line for Washington might not be a bad idea.

My MLB Pick: Nationals -125

Pirates vs. Cardinals

Jonathon Sanchez takes the hill for the Buckos tonight, and he has another tall task as he has to face the St. Louis Cardinals’ offense. Sanchez boasts an ERA north of 11, and I don’t think that is going to improve too much in this game.

Opposing him tonight will be Lance Lynn, who has been solid this season but not great. Lynn faced the Buckos a few weeks ago and gave up four earned runs, however he got some great run support and got the win. In fact Lynn has gotten great run support throughout the season. In his last three starts, the Cardinals have scored 20 runs behind Lynn.

With Sanchez and Lynn on the mound, MLB odds have set the total for this one at 8 ½ and I’m going over. I don’t think either team will have trouble scoring against one another in this spot. In their last four games against the Cards, two this season and two last, the Pirates have scored 25 runs in their last four games against the Cardinals. For those reasons, I am offering a play on the 'Over' as the second of my free picks tonight

My MLB Pick: OVER 8 ½
