Which games have our cappers decided to highlight with with their MLB picks tonight? Here are two games that we believe deserve a strong look tonight.

Red Sox (Doubront) vs. Yankees (Pettitte)

Covered by Jeff Grant

Not only do these two rivals despise each other, the implications of this series run even deeper, with the Yankees still within reach of making the playoffs. They can't afford to keep losing to Boston here at home.

Andy Pettitte starts for New York and he's had quite a bit of success against the Red Sox this season – he's 2-1 with a 2.14 ERA in three starts. That said, his home record (4-4, 4.63 ERA) still has to be worrying to potential Yankees backers.

As for Felix Doubront, he's given up eight earned runs in 16.1 IP against New York in 2013, while going 5-2 with a 3.82 ERA on the road. Jeff doesn't see much value on the money-line here and is going to pick the OVER 9 runs.

Pirates (Burnett) vs. Cardinals (Kelly)

Covered by Willie Bee

It hasn't been the best couple of weeks for the Cardinals, but they're still in the race and get to play at home this weekend against division foe Pittsburgh. The Pirates for now are favored in and around the -110 area.

A.J. Burnett has been incredibly solid for Pittsburgh throughout the season and is undefeated (3-0, 2.59 ERA) in five starts against St. Louis. But, have you seen what Joe Kelly's been doing over the second half of the year? He's 6-0 with a 1.72 ERA in eight starts following the All-Star Break.

This matchup is clearly crucial for both teams, but at the end of the day Willie is siding with the more experienced starter in Burnett and will be adding the Pirates to his MLB picks for the day.

Dodgers (Capuano) vs. Reds (Leake)

Covered by Willie Bee

Chris Capuano was great against San Diego last week, holding the Padres to eight hits and one run over seven innings in a 2-1 win. He's also fared better on the road than at home this season, going 2-2 with a 3.28 ERA in 10 appearances (eight starts) outside of Los Angeles.

And, with the way Mike Leake's been pitching, the edge may very well go to the Dodgers in the pitching department, regardless of the overall numbers. Leake was brutal in August, going 1-1 with a 6.44 ERA in six assignments – he's now 3-2 with a 5.33 ERA since the All-Star Break.

You know motivation will still be high for the Reds here, but Willie thinks the Dodgers offense will be able to capitalize against a disheartened Leake and give Capuano enough run support. He's on L.A. at an attractive dog price of +120.

White Sox (Danks) vs. Orioles (Feldman)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Considering the White Sox have won only one of John Danks' 10 road starts this season, the odds of a win for the road team against a Baltimore ballclub with a lot to play for aren't too good. At the moment the Orioles are -170 chalk.

Scott Feldman, who starts for Baltimore, has settled down lately, having surrendered five earned runs over his past 24 innings of work – that's helped lower his earned run average from 5.70 to 4.18 with his new team.

Ron wasn't able to hit his play in the first game of the series but is hoping to bounce back with a winner tonight. What's his favorite pick? He really likes Baltimore in this spot and will be backing them on the run-line at nearly +130 in the odds.

The weekend is almost upon us and we're going to try and start it off with a bang. Here are the games we are following closely before making our final MLB picks.

Red Sox (Doubront) vs. Yankees (Pettitte)

Covered by Swingin' Johnson

A heart-breaking loss for the Yankees last night, made even worse by the fact the Orioles were able to win. Mariano Rivera had a chance to close the game out but couldn't convert the save.

Up next in this heated series we have two lefties in Andy Pettitte and Felix Doubront scheduled to pitch. The Red Sox, winners of three straight, are currently favored at a price of -110.

Pirates (Burnett) vs. Cardinals (Kelly)

Covered by Willie Bee

It's been a crazy couple of weeks for the Cardinals. They've had seven games against Cincinnati and three against the Pirates and now start up another three-game set with Pittsburgh tonight.

Being at home should serve the Cardinals well after a rough road stretch in which they went 2-5 over seven games. Joe Kelly and company were -115 chalk at time of writing.

Dodgers (Capuano) vs. Reds (Leake)

Covered by Willie Bee

The Reds are still very much in the thick of the playoff race, but don't expect any easy wins against the Dodgers, even with them being at home. L.A. is 40-28 on the road this season.

It'd be fair to say Cincinnati has more at stake right now and therefore their motivation may be higher all around. Dusty Baker's team can be found at -130 to kick this series off with a win, with the Dodgers at +120.

White Sox (Danks) vs. Orioles (Feldman)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Thanks to a masterful performance from Miguel Gonzalez, the Orioles got back on track with a much-needed victory yesterday. How will Scott Feldman follow that up tonight?

Feldman has looked pretty sharp as of late, allowing two or fewer earned runs in four straight starts. He'll lead out Baltimore as a sizable -160 favorite on the MLB odds board.
