Cardinals (Miller) vs. Pirates (Liriano)

Covered by Ron Patrick

The Pirates, trailing St. Louis by one game, will be at home for a three-game set over the weekend, starting with tonight's game. Francisco Liriano starts for Pittsburgh, with Shelby Miller getting the call for the road team.

This is a nice-looking dog price on the Cardinals, and even though Liriano has done well against them this season, Ron thinks readers will be better off taking St. Louis with their MLB picks.

Orioles (Gonzalez) vs. Yankees (Sabathia)

Covered by Willie Bee

Coming into this evening's crucial game, Miguel Gonzalez has been dominant against the Yankees in the past, holding them to a combined .167 batting average. Meanwhile, the Orioles have tagged C.C. Sabathia for an average of .280.

But, with so much on the line for these division rivals, Willie believes the best value is on the total. He's picking the UNDER 8.5 runs, which is currently available at plus money.

Royals (Santana) vs. Blue Jays (Buehrle)

Covered by Jeff Grant

Both Mark Buehrle and Ervin Santana have been excellent since the All-Star Break. Buehrle is 5-1 with a 2.41 ERA (and is also 7-2 with a 2.94 ERA at home this season), while Santana is 3-1 with a 2.84 ERA in eight starts.

The Royals, however, are the hotter team right now and still have an outside chance of landing a spot in the playoffs. They've also been good on the road against lefties recently, so Jeff is taking Kansas City at -110.

Giants (Lincecum) vs. Diamondbacks (Delgado)

Covered by Joe Freda

Though they're only four games above .500 overall, the Diamondbacks have been hard to beat at home, going 38-27 ahead of tonight's battle with Tim Lincecum and the Giants. Randall Delgado, who's struggled to a 5.70 ERA in five August starts, takes the bump for Arizona.

Lincecum hasn't been any better though, going 2-4 with a 5.36 ERA since the All-Star Break. What's Joe's preferred play for this series opener? Despite some inconsistency with both pitchers, he's recommending the UNDER 8.5 runs.

Padres (Stults) vs. Dodgers (Ryu)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Yasiel's Puig erratic behavior is a concern, but the Dodgers are still trailblazing through the competition. Tonight they start a three-game home set against the Padres, who are 24-41 away from San Diego this season.

It's been tough goings if you've faded Hyun-Jin Ryu at home this season, considering he's 6-2 with a 2.21 ERA at Dodger Stadium in 2013. Ron is sticking with the Dodgers and adding them on the run-line to his sports picks.

Angels (Weaver) vs. Brewers (Peralta)

Covered by Ross Benjamin

While Jered Weaver was masterful in his latest outing, he's only 2-4 with a 4.47 ERA out on the road this year. So far in August he's 3-2 with a 5.08 ERA in five starts. As for Wily Peralta, he's been good for a 5.17 ERA at home this season.

Neither offense has gotten much of a look at these pitchers, with only a couple Milwaukee players ever getting at-bats against Weaver. So will we see more of a pitchers duel tonight? Perhaps, but Ross is more confident in rolling with the Angels as -122 road chalk.

Early Morning Odds

Cardinals (Miller) vs. Pirates (Liriano)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Once again the Pirates and Cardinals meet up for a three-game series, only this time Pittsburgh plays host. Tonight is the first of three crucial games, with Francisco Liriano and the Pirates favored at -120.

Orioles (Gonzalez) vs. Yankees (Sabathia)

Covered by Willie Bee

Only one-and-a-half games separate New York and Baltimore in the current MLB standings, so here's weekend series that is sure to garner a lot of attention. The Yankees will come in as -135 chalk for tonight's matchup, which features C.C. Sabathia and Miguel Gonzalez as the two starting pitchers.

Royals (Santana) vs. Blue Jays (Buehrle)

Covered by Jeff Grant

The Royals are on a roll right now, having won five straight to pull within six games of a Wild Card spot. Can they take care of business on the road against Toronto as small -115 favorites?

Giants (Lincecum) vs. Diamondbacks (Delgado)

Covered by Joe Freda

Overall it's been a terrible disappointing season for the Giants, who find themselves in last place in the NL West one year after winning the World Series. They'll aim for a win tonight against Randall Delgado and the Diamondbacks, with MLB odds showing Arizona favored at -125.

Padres (Stults) vs. Dodgers (Ryu)

Covered by Ron Patrick

The Dodgers are in cruise control as they prepare for the playoffs in a little over a month, as they've got a 9.5-game lead on Arizona in the division. Tonight they host Eric Stults and the Padres holding some of the biggest chalk of the night at -200.

Angels (Weaver) vs. Brewers (Peralta)

Covered by Ross Benjamin

Jered Weaver is coming off a fantastic outing (8.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 8 K) last week against Seattle and now takes on the Brewers on the road. The odds vary depending on the sportsbook, but you can lock down L.A. anywhere from -115 to -130.
