The Los Angeles Dodgers are really struggling in the early going, but they have a chance to turn things around in interleague play against the Baltimore Orioles starting Friday night.

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB odds for this matchup at Orioles Park, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET

Los Angeles has dropped four in a row, which includes getting swept in a three-game home series against the San Diego Padres, which concluded with a 7-2 setback as -239 favorites Wednesday night.

The Dodgers are 2-0 off three straight upset losses to division rivals as a home favorite the last two-plus seasons, with the OVER going 1-0-1 in that situation.

Falling into a pattern

Baltimore has alternated wins and losses over its last seven games, as it comes off a 10-6 walk-off victory over the Tampa Bay Rays as +121 home underdogs Thursday night, while going OVER the posted total of 7.5.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the Orioles are 12-11 after playing nine consecutive games versus division rivals, with the UNDER going 12-8-3 in those 23 opportunities.

I believe this is a flat spot for the club after facing off with the Rays, New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.

Dodgers starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu (2-1, 2.89 ERA) has earned back-to-back victories, including a 7-5 road win over the Arizona Diamondbacks last Saturday, as he allowed three runs and six hits over six frames.

The left-hander has demonstrated great control in his first 18.2 MLB innings—issuing just three free passes and striking out 20 batters.

Orioles starting pitcher Jason Hammel (2-1, 4.34 ERA) is coming off a 5-3 road victory over the Yankees last time out, as he allowed three runs (two earned) and eight hits over six frames, but also served up two home runs.

The right-hander is 2-5 with a 5.47 ERA in 13 career games (nine starts) versus the Dodgers, including a 0-3 mark and 10.66 ERA in his last three efforts against them.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Dodgers as one of their MLB picks Friday, as they’ve won the last five meetings in this series, while the Orioles are 126-157 all-time in interleague play.
