The Los Angeles Dodgers ended a four-game losing streak with Tuesday’s 9-3 triumph over the Arizona Diamondbacks, cashing as even-money road dogs. Let's look at the betting lines for tonight's game.

Wednesday’s MLB betting has a pair of righties dueling, with Arizona’s Brandon McCarthy (4-9, 4.58 ERA) facing Los Angeles’ Stephen Fife (4-3, 3.21 ERA).

Dodgers, Kemp cruise at Chase

Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp came away with a 4-for-4 night in Tuesday’s victory, notching a team-high three RBIs. Los Angeles’ Adrian Gonzalez and Juan Uribe both cracked homers, while Hanley Ramirez and Scott Van Slyke both walked three times.

Arizona’s Martin Prado and Miguel Montero were held to a combined 0-for-6, with Prado leaving four men on base. The Diamondbacks were edged in hits, 12-8, while the battle’s dozen runs soared OVER the MLB odds ‘total’ of 7 ½ by the fourth inning.

McCarthy fails to cash

McCarthy logged a no-decision in Friday’s 7-5 setback for Arizona as a 137 home favorite to the Colorado Rockies. The eighth-year hurler gave up two runs on 11 hits, leaving after six innings.

Diamondbacks mates Adam Eaton and Aaron Hill united to hit 4-for-9 from their lineup’s top two spots, while cleanup man Eric Chavez left six men on base. Arizona’s Will Harris came away with his pitching staff’s loss, responsible for four runs in relief of McCarthy.

Fife returns as starter

Fife makes his first start here since August, following recovery from a shoulder injury. The Idaho native pitched in a pair of relief appearances this month, giving up six runs in a combined five frames of action.

Los Angeles has gone 2-3 in Fife’s five road outings as a starter, with eight earned runs allowed over 25 1/3 innings. The righty’s arm has surrendered just one homer through that span, while allowing a 1.65 WHIP and .370 OBP.

Back the UNDER in Arizona

William Hill opened McCarthy as 125 home ‘chalk,’ while first posting the ‘total’ at nine (OVER minus 125). Dodgers outfielders Andre Ethier (52 RBIs) and Carl Crawford (.280 BA) are both listed as “questionable” due to ankle and back injuries, respectively.

I am adding the UNDER here to Wednesday’s sports picks, looking to slide below this spot’s high ‘total.’

McCarthy has allowed a stingy nine earned runs over his last six home starts (44 IP), giving up just two homers over that span. Los Angeles was held to three runs in May’s road start for McCarthy at Dodger Stadium, while the UNDER is 6-1 in McCarthy’s last seven outings as a favorite.

Fife’s sole start against Arizona’s lineup came last August, holding Kirk Gibson’s club to two runs over 4 1/3 innings. The UNDER is 4-0 in Los Angeles’ last four road contests against righty starters, while going 9-3 in the team’s last 12 matchups that followed a spot of scoring five runs or more.

Umpire Joe West is scheduled behind the dish, with UNDER backers cashing at 7-2 in the 60-year-old’s last nine called affairs. The stretch includes a 4-0 mark in National League parks, as well as this past Saturday’s 1-0 victory for the Oakland Athletics in Texas.

Look for the UNDER to collect again here, adding to the wager’s 9-3 mark in the last 12 meetings between these rivals at Chase Field.
