The Texas Rangers began this week with a three-game home sweep of the Los Angeles Angels, while the UNDER cashed at 2-1.

Ron Washington’s club remains at Rangers Ballpark for Thursday’s one-night makeup against the Arizona Diamondbacks, who send Zeke Spruill to the hill against Texas’ Yu Darvish.

Beltre, Goldschmidt homer in finales

Texas notched a 2-1 victory over Los Angeles in Wednesday’s action, pulling out a cashed ticket as a 144 home favorite. Rangers slugger Adrian Beltre drilled a walkoff long ball, while he and his mates edged the Angels in hits, 9-4.

Arizona notched a 7-0 triumph on the same night’s card against the Tampa Bay Rays, collecting as a 163 road dog. Diamondbacks mates Paul Goldschmidt and Cody Ross united to hit 5-for-8, with Goldschmidt cracking his 24th homer of the year.

Darvish outdueled in Cleveland

Darvish picked up his second loss in three starts with Saturday’s 1-0 setback for Texas as 116 road ‘chalk’ against the Cleveland Indians. The 26-year-old tossed 11 strikeouts in six frames, holding Cleveland to three hits.

Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz left four men on base, while leadoff man Ian Kinsler came away with a 0-for-3 night. Texas’ Elvis Andrus struck out three times, with the low octane affair plunging UNDER its ‘total’ of 7 ½.

Spruill called up from Reno

Spruill has spent most of the year with Triple-A’s Reno Aces, notching a 4-3 record (3.24 ERA) over 12 starts. The Virginia native tossed eight scoreless frames in Saturday’s 1-0 win for Reno over the Tacoma Rainers, allowing six hits en route to five strikeouts.

June’s MLB betting action saw Spruill stand in four times for Arizona, giving up one earned run over 4 1/3 innings. The stretch included a pair of road appearances, allowing two hits to the Atlanta Braves in the most recent stint.

Back the UNDER in Texas

Thursday’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. (ET), with Arlington’s weather forecast calling for a 101 degree night. Friday’s MLB slate has Arizona continuing its road trip against the Boston Red Sox, while Texas heads west to meet the Oakland Athletics.

I am backing the UNDER in this matchup, sensing a tighter affair than the MLB odds makers expect.

Darvish has held foes to a 1.13 WHIP and .288 OBP at home, while facing a Diamondbacks club logging just 3 RPG in its last five road dates. The UNDER is 5-1-1 in the righty’s most recent seven home starts, giving up just one homer over the span’s latest trio of outings.

Spruill has shown improvement as part of his latest stay with Reno, giving up no earned runs over his 14 2/3 IP since being sent down. Arizona has seen the UNDER cash at 9-2 in its last 11 interleague spots against clubs with winning records, while the same wager has gone 4-1 in Texas’ most recent matchups facing National League foes.

Look for the pitching on each side to hold its own here, sending the battle’s ‘total’ UNDER in this get-a-way game.
