Saturday afternoon’s MLB betting has the Atlanta Braves and Arizona Diamondbacks squaring off at Turner Field, following Friday’s 3-0 blitz by the Braves as 167 favorites.
Braves, Simmons outgun D-backs
Atlanta edged out the Diamondbacks in hits, 11-4, as part of Friday’s victory, including five extra-base blasts. Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons drilled a homer from the leadoff spot, while B.J. Upton poked a pair of doubles in a 2-for-3 night.
Arizona’s Gerardo Parra and Miguel Montero were both held to 0-for-4 outings, while each leaving two men on base. Diamondbacks mates Jason Kubel and Paul Goldschmidt both struck out twice, finishing a combined 0-for-6.
Braves closer Craig Kimbrel logged his 23rd save, uniting with relievers Luis Avilan and Jordan Walden to allow no hits in the final three frames. The duel’s three runs plunged below the ‘total’ of eight, moving the UNDER to 2-1-1 in this year’s four meetings between the foes.

Hudson outdueled in Milwaukee
Hudson picked up his sixth loss in nine starts with last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat for Atlanta to the Milwaukee Braves, falling as a 141 road favorite. The 15-year veteran lasted six frames, giving up both of the Brewers’ runs on seven hits.
Atlanta’s Jordan Schafer and Freddie Freeman combined to bat 0-for-7 from the lineup’s leadoff and cleanup spots, respectively. Braves relievers David Carpenter and Alex Wood allowed one hit each over the contest’s final two innings, with Wood logging three strikeouts.
Kennedy returns after suspension
Kennedy makes his first start here since June 16, following his suspension from his side’s wild affair with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 28-year-old returns having made five straight road starts, allowing 20 earned runs over the span’s 29 1/3 IP.
Kennedy opposed Hudson last month, with Arizona logging a 5-3 victory as a 103 home dog. Atlanta’s lineup was held to four hits in Kennedy’s five frames of action, while the righty logged seven strikeouts.
Back the UNDER in Atlanta
Hudson opened as a 150 home favorite on William Hill’s MLB odds board, while the shop first set the ‘total’ at 7 ½ (UNDER minus 125). Arizona’s Willie Bloomquist (.292 BA) has missed three games due to a hand injury and is “questionable” to return here.
I am adding the UNDER in this duel to Saturday’s sports picks, looking for another tight affair between these rivals.
Hudson has been stingy at home, allowing a 0.96 WHIP and .249 OBP. The three-time All-Star has surrendered just two homers in 44 2/3 IP at Turner Field, while the UNDER cashed at 2-0 in the stretch’s latest pair of affairs.
Kennedy tossed some tight ball in his last two road outings, giving up just three earned runs over 12 1/3. The UNDER is 3-2-1 in the California native’s six daytime starts, while facing a Braves’ club that has notched just 2.9 RPG in its last seven contests.
Arizona has seen the UNDER cash at 5-0 in its last five matchups against right-handed starters, while the same wager is 4-1-2 in Atlanta’s last seven spots as a homer favorite. Look for these trends to hold serve here, with UNDER backers collecting again.
