With both teams settling in now in St. Louis for this second game I look for both teams to break out a little bit offensively. Find out the best value MLB pick for this game inside.

MLB Odds
Although the higher juice is on over the total it is still a reasonable number, and the fact is that this total is a bit too low in my opinion at 6.5. That is the number across the board and if it moves anywhere in my estimation it's going to go up. For my MLB pick I like over total in this spot.  Right now you can get good MLB odds at 5Dimes at over the total of 6.5 at -112.

Chicago Cubs
Kyle Hendricks takes the mound for the Cubs and comes in with a 3.95 ERA, 1.16 whip, 167 strikeouts, and an 8-7 record. Except for a rough outing in Pittsburgh a few starts ago he has pitched well in his most recent starts. On the road he has not been so hot though overall with a 4.47 ERA and batters hitting .258 against him. In his one appearance against St. Louis this year he allowed four earned runs off a six hits in five innings so I don't expect the Cardinals to come into this game lacking any confidence.

This season Chicago ranked 16th in the major leagues in runs scored per game at 4.25, 17th in OPS at .719, and 29th in team batting average hitting .244 as a team. After yesterday's really tough battle with John Lackey I look for the Cubs to finally put up some runs today even though their task is still difficult against Cardinals starter Jamie Garcia. They have not seen him at all this season but I just don't believe they will get shut out two games in a row.

St. Louis Cardinals
Garcia takes the mound and comes in with a 2.43 ERA, 1.05 whip, 97 strikeouts, and a 10-6 record. At home he has been lights out with a 1.70 ERA and batters hitting just .203 against him. Still, he is not immune to giving up runs and in his last five starts he is given up 14 total in 29 innings. At times he can be extremely tough but he doesn't have overpowering stuff and if the Cubs are patient I think will be able to manufacture two or three runs at least.

Offensively on the season St. Louis ranked 24th in runs per game at 3.99, 19th in OPS at .716, and 12th in batting average hitting .253 as a team. Although they struggled against Jon Lester they get a much easier task today against Hendricks. I thought they did a nice job by putting away the game in the later innings. They should come into this game, as I mentioned, extremely confident to score some runs and I think they will have a lot of quality at-bats.

With both of the American League games yesterday showing a little more on the offensive end I look for that same trend to continue in the National League. Although statistically it makes sense for this total to be seven or below I like for the Cubs to score a few and for the Cardinals to score even more. For one of your MLB picks I suggest taking the over in this crucial game two between the Cubs and the Cardinals.
