A pair of left-handers are scheduled to meet at Petco Park Monday night, with the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres opening up a three-game series.

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB odds for this National League matchup, with the first pitch scheduled for 10:10 p.m. ET.

Check out our Monday Morning MLB Odds & Betting Lines Report.

Hitting the road

Philadelphia went 3-3 on its recent six-game homestand, which ended with a 8-0 shutout loss to the New York Mets as +121 underdogs, while going OVER the betting total for the third time in four contests.

The Phillies are 33-26 on the road with a money line of -100 to -125 the last two-plus seasons (4-4 in 2013), while the OVER is 34-2-4-1 in that situation.

Stepping outside the division

San Diego ended a 10-game span against National League West opponents with a 6-4 record, which included a 3-1 setback to the Los Angeles Dodgers as -159 home favorites Sunday, while going UNDER the betting total of 7.5 for a second consecutive contest.

The Padres are 11-8 as home underdogs of +100 to +125, with the OVER going 10-7-2 in those 19 opportunities.

Phillies starting pitcher Cliff Lee (9-2, 2.53 ERA) has won seven consecutive decisions, including a 4-2 home victory over the Washington Nationals last time out, as he allowed two runs and five hits over eight frames.

The left-hander is 6-1 with a 1.88 ERA in nine road outings, surrendering just a single home run in 67 combined innings.

In five career games versus the Padres, Lee has tallied a 1-2 record and 4.99 ERA, including a 0-1 mark and 1.93 ERA in two efforts at this ballpark.

Padres starting pitcher Eric Stults (6-5, 3.25 ERA) didn’t earn a decision in a 4-2 road defeat to the San Francisco Giants last time out, as he allowed two runs and seven hits over 6.1 innings of work.

The left-hander is 3-1 with a 2.90 ERA in six home appearances, issuing six walks and striking out 32 batters in 40.1 combined frames.

Stults made his only career appearance against the Phillies on July 17, 2007, as he surrendered four runs and eight hits over three innings out of the bullpen.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Phillies in the first five innings as one of their MLB picks Monday, as this is a bit of a letdown spot for the Padres.

Philadelphia has also won Lee’s last five starts on the road with a betting total of 6.5 or lower.

MLB Pick:  Philadelphia Phillies -120 First 5 Innings
