Wednesday’s rematch has Orioles lefty Wei-Yin Chen (7-7, 3.99 ERA) slated to oppose Red Sox right-hander Jake Peavy (11-5, 4.03 ERA). Let's check out the match-up and lines for our MLB picks.

The Baltimore Orioles are 3-1 in the first four games of their present road trip, capped off by Tuesday’s 3-2 win at plus 101 MLB odds over the Boston Red Sox.

Orioles, Davis surge by Sox

Orioles first baseman Chris Davis drilled his 51st homer in Tuesday’s victory, while mates Matt Wieters and Brian Roberts came away with one RBI each. Baltimore’s Jim Johnson anchored five relievers for his 46th save, allowing one hit in the final frame.

Red Sox sluggers David Ortiz and Daniel Nava were both held to 0-for-4 nights, with Ortiz striking out twice. Boston’s Dustin Pedroia left five men on base from his lineup’s leadoff spot, while the battle’s five runs dipped UNDER the ‘total’ of 8 ½.

Peavy outdueled in St. Pete

Peavy logged a second straight no-decision in Thursday’s 4-3 defeat for Boston to the Tampa Bay Rays, failing to cash as a minus 103 road choice. The 32-year-old allowed three runs over six frames, giving up four hits and five walks.

Red Sox shortstop Stephen Drew hit 2-for-3, while catcher Mike Napoli finished 0-for-4 from the cleanup spot. Boston’s Rubby De La Rosa picked up his staff’s loss, responsible for Tampa Bay’s late go-ahead run.

Chen falls as home ‘chalk’

Chen also failed to cash on the same night’s card, with Baltimore’s 6-5 loss as a 156 home favorite to the New York Yankees. The Taiwan native was shelled for five runs on seven hits, including two homers as part of his 6 1/3 frames of action.

Baltimore’s Nick Markakis and Danny Valencia both poked long balls, batting a combined 3-for-7. Chen ended up with a no-decision, while middle reliever Josh Stinson held New York hitless over 1 2/3 innings.

Back the OVER in Boston

Bet365 opened Peavy as a 150 home favorite, while first listing the ‘total’ at a flat 8 ½. The weather forecast in Boston calls for a clear 66 degrees, with calm winds blowing outward.

I am backing the OVER in Wednesday’s matchup, adding this wager to my card of sports picks.

Peavy has had tight numbers in his pair of outings at Fenway Park, but faces an Orioles club starting to heat up again with 4 RPG over its last seven contests. Baltimore has hit .261 against right-handed pitching on the road, while the OVER is 13-6 in the Orioles’ last 19 spots as road dogs of plus 150 or less.

Chen has surrendered 18 earned runs over his last 20 IP, including eight as part of his most recent road duel with the Red Sox. Boston’s trio of Shane Victorino, Mike Napoli and Daniel Nava were all held hitless in Tuesday’s opener, but have one homer each in a combined 11 at-bat’s facing Chen.

Umpire Lazaro Diaz is slated to call the balls and strikes, with the OVER cashing at 6-2-2 over the Miami native’s last 10 spots behind home plate. For your baseball picks, look for the OVER to collect again here, adding to a 5-2 mark for the wager in Boston’s last seven matchups as a favorite.
