The St. Louis Cardinals have a great opportunity to move within a single win of reaching the World Series, when they travel to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers Monday night.

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds for Game 3 of the 2013 National League Conference Series at Dodger Stadium, with the first pitch scheduled for 8:07 p.m. ET on TBS.

Coming off a pair of wins

St. Louis owns a 2-0 lead over Los Angeles in this best-of-seven series, as it picked up a pair of wins as home underdogs, including a 1-0 victory last Saturday.

The Cardinals have compiled a 35-33 all-time record in LCS games, but are 13-22 on the road in that situation.

Sports betting experts may be reluctant in backing a road favorite in this spot that has scored just four runs in 22 innings.

Problems all around

Los Angeles is hitting .184 overall and .063 with runners in scoring position against St. Louis—a statistic that could go further south if outfielder Andre Ethier (leg) and shortstop Hanley Ramirez (ribs) are unable to return to the lineup.

The Dodgers should gain confidence in knowing that the franchise has rallied back from 0-2 deficits three times in its history.

Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright has tallied a 2-0 record and 1.13 ERA in two outings during the 2013 playoffs, but both of those efforts came against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Busch Stadium.

The right-hander went 10-3 with a 3.36 ERA in 17 road appearances during the regular season, issuing 15 walks and striking out 105 batters in 120.2 combined frames.

In 13 games (10 starts) versus the Dodgers, Wainwright has gone 4-4 with a 3.10 ERA.

Dodgers starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu didn’t earn a decision in a 13-6 home win over the Atlanta Braves in the Division Series on Oct. 6, as he allowed four runs and six hits over three innings of work.

The left-hander managed to produce a 7-4 record and 2.32 ERA in 15 home starts during the regular season.

Ryu picked up a 5-1 road win over the Cardinals in his only career appearance against them on Aug. 8, surrendering one run (zero earned) and five hits over seven frames.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Cardinals in their MLB picks, as Wainwright has gone 2-0 with a 0.40 ERA in three career starts with scheduled umpire Mike Everitt behind the dish.
