This matchup is a perfect 20-0 on the run line this season. The best news about this is that this means we get St. Louis at an excellent MLB odds price.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. LA Angels
St. Louis and the LA Angels complete their early-week set with this 10:05 ET start on Thursdaynight. Already this week, the Cards have pounded the Angels by scores of 8-1 and 5-2. Look for that dominance to continue tonight with a pitching matchup that works in our favor. A main reason for the St. Louis’ success in this series is a huge OPS batting advantage which finds St. Louis with the No. 2 OPS in MLB at .818, while the Angels are No.27 at .661.

The Angels’ ineptitude at the plate has continued in this 6-game home stand. After the first 5 games, the Angels are yet to record a victory, totaling just 8 runs with a .197 BA. Their injured and battered starting pitching rotation has an 8.24 ERA in their last 10 starts. That has put tremendous pressure on a quality bullpen, which is about to snap! Weaver is an aging veteran, who is relying on his experience and guile to get the job done. Though he is 3-1 for the year, he has a 4.72 ERA because of a fastball that tops out at 83 MPH. He simply cannot be a dominant force when he takes the mound.

Opposing Weaver tonight is another veteran in St. Louis’ starter, Wainwright. The former ace missed all but 7 of the games last year with a ruptured Achilles’ tendon. He has been slow to round into form after a dismal start. But, Wainwright has won his last 2 outings, following a 5-game start in which he went 1-3 with a 7.16 ERA. Surely, he will enjoy facing an Angels’ offense that is truly struggling.

Betting Analysis
The St. Louis record of 18-16 is a bit misleading. St. Louis is 17-8 when not facing their divisional opponents, Chicago or Pittsburgh. As usual, they are playing excellent baseball on the road with a 9-3 recent record. But, the most exciting part of this selection is the run line aspect of the analysis.

Last year, 37 of 45 St. Louis’ road wins were by 2 or more runs. This year, all 9 of St. Louis’ road wins have come by 2 or more runs. That fits hand in glove with the fact that all 11 of LAA’s home losses have come by 2 or more runs. Put those together and you have a perfect 20-0 run line situation. I invite you to put the MLB odds in your favor and join me in my MLB pick on the St. Louis Cardinals tonight.
