Diamond Backs and the Dodgers reunite onced again for their 3-game early week set, which is scheduled at 10pm ET. Grab my MLB pick inside.

Arizona D’Backs (Ray) vs. LA Dodgers (Stripling) (-135) 10:10 ET
The Arizona D’Backs and the LA Dodgers conclude their 3-game early week set with this scheduled 10:10 ET start at Chavez Ravine. The teams have split the first 2 games of the series with Arizona winning (4-2) on Tuesday night, before the Dodgers rebounded with a (3-1) victory. A bit more was expected from this Arizona team than their current 3-6 record, which saw them open the season with 7 consecutive home games.

In their defense, however, their last 6 games have come vs. the Cubs and Dodgers (a pair of likely playoff participants). LA Dodgers stand just 5-4, despite the fact they have outscored the opposition 47-31. I look for a victory from the Dodgers tonight, as they win this series behind the slants of their young starter, Stripling.

The D’Backs will send Robbie Ray to the mound, who was 2-2 with a 2.28 ERA vs. LAD last year. It is interesting to note that those 2 victories came in the final month of September, when he pitched 11 scoreless innings, allowing just 5 hits. Though the lefthander gave up only 2 runs in 6 IP of a (3-2) Arizona win vs. the Cubs last Friday, he did have control issues, allowing 4 walks and one hit batter.

The Dodgers counter with a trio of hot hitters and a young emerging starter. Yasiel Puig is hitting .394, Adrian Gonzalez is batting .389 and Chase Utley is hitting .324. They will look to provide support for Ross Stripling, who was immaculate in his MLB debut at San Francisco. Stripling, who underwent Tommy John surgery, worked 7 1/3 innings vs. the Giants on Friday without allowing a hit. He was lifted following his 100th pitch to preserve his arm in what the Dodgers hope will be a great career.

In this rubber game of the 3-game set, I have a strong preference for the home-standing Dodgers. Note the home/road dichotomy from last year, which I perceive will again replicate itself this season. LA was 55-26 on this field last year (tied with St. Louis for the most home wins in MLB). Arizona was just 32-49 on the road (their 4th consecutive losing season as visitor) which culminated a 3-season record of 99-144 as traveler. Though respect is given to the work of Ray, as we reflect on this price later in the season (which has been bet down over .20 since the opener), we shall see it presents huge value. We back the linemaker’s opinion, the strong home field, and the Dodgers’ YOUNG GUN, Stripling, to get us this win.

I invite you to put the MLB odds in your favor and join me in my MLB pick on the LA Dodgers tonight.
