Pittsburgh grabbed the opener of this series Monday afternoon 5-4, as Detroit lost for the first time this season. But this handicapper is thinking the Tigers will bounce back Tuesday night.

Tigers-Pirates: Game 1 Review
Pittsburgh grabbed an early 2-0 lead Monday against Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez, saw that lead halved to 2-1 in the top of the seventh, then tacked on three runs in the bottom of the seventh, two on a Corey Hart homer, to take control.

The Tigers rallied for three runs in the ninth off Pittsburgh closer Mark Melancon, and now we're wondering about the back end of that Bucs bullpen.

Pittsburgh starter Gerrit Cole held the high-powered Tigers to one run and three hits through six innings, walking two while whiffing eight. Meanwhile, Sanchez, whom we were banking on Monday, ultimately was charged with five runs in 6 1/3 innings of work. But he also struck out nine, while walking none. We might very well try to get our money back on Sanchez' next start.

The Pirates won Monday as a -135 post-time favorite, and the game, thanks to that ninth-inning rally by the Tigers, played OVER its total of 7.5.

These two teams are now a combined 9-4 on the OVERS this season.

Detroit slugger Victor Martinez was relegated to a pinch-hitting role Monday, because he can't DH in National League parks.

Tigers-Pirates: Game 2 Betting Odds
Most of the MLB betting odds opened Pittsburgh and AJ Burnett at around -125 over Detroit and

Shane Greene, with a total of 7.5 runs. In the early betting most books bumped the Pirates to around -130.

Tuesday's Pitching Match-Up
Burnett will be making his second start of this season, after holding Cincinnati to two runs through 5 1/3 innings of a 3-2 Pittsburgh loss last Thursday.

Last year, pitching for Philadelphia, Burnett went just 14-for-34 on quality starts; the Phillies went just 12-22 in Burnett's starts, with the totals going 17-16.

Burnett last started against Detroit back in 2013, when as a Pirate he gave up three runs through six innings of a 5-3 Pittsburgh victory.

Greene will be making his second start of this season, after holding Minnesota to one unearned run and four hits through eight innings of a 7-1 victory last Thursday.

Last year as a rookie with the Yankees Greene went six-for-14 on quality starts; New York went 9-5 in those games, with the totals skewing toward the UNDERS by a 9-4 margin.

This will be Greene's first-ever start against Pittsburgh.

Tigers-Pirates: Game 2 Pick
Detroit trailed all day Monday and still almost rallied to tie the game late. And Greene looks like he might be a great pick-up. We like the Tigers to bounce back from Monday's loss and win tonight with our MLB picks.
