We’re going to examine Monday’s National League game between Atlanta and San Diego. Read our compelling betting preview article which concludes with a MLB free pick.

Braves head West on Monday to take on Padres
The Padres and Braves convene for the opener of a three game series on Monday. The first pitch at Petco Park in San Diego is slated for 10:10 PM ET. These National League clubs have split their four games against each other in 2015, and three of those four went over the total. San Diego is a perfect 6-0 at home versus Atlanta since 2013.

Starting Pitchers
Atlanta’s 24 year old right-hander Williams Perez gets the starting assignment on Monday. Perez has been in very shaky form over his previous three starts, posting a large 7.86 ERA, 1.80 WHIP, and issued four more walks than strikeouts. Perez can expect little help from his bullpen. Atlanta relief pitchers have compiled a combined 4.89 ERA and 1.56 WHIP on the road in 2015.

San Diego’s 25 year old right-hander Colin Rea will make just his second career MLB start tonight. Rea wasn’t overly impressive in his MLB debut last Tuesday at home versus Cincinnati. He allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits while walking 1 in 5.0 innings of work. Rea was dominant in twelve starts for AA San Antonio this year, evidenced by a superb 1.08 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, and a better than 5:1 strikeout to walk ratio. However, that wasn’t the case in six starts for AAA El Paso where he had a lofty 4.39 ERA, and a concerning 1.54 WHIP.

Both Teams in recent High Scoring Games
Atlanta has gone 9-4-2 over the total in their previous fifteen games. Atlanta pitchers have allowed 10 hits or more in eleven of those last fifteen. Opponents have a very high team batting average of .281 during Braves away games, and that’s been a major contributor to their horrible 20-41 record on the road.

San Diego has gone 14-4 over the total during their previous eighteen games. That’ really nothing new for the Padres since they’ve gone 67-48-3 over the total in 2015. Excluding pushes, San Diego has gone over the total in 58.3% of their games this year.

The Conclusion
All signs point toward a high scoring game and one of my MLB picks on Monday will reflect exactly that. According to MLB betting odd at The Greek, they possess a best combination of number and price.

MLB Pick: Play on Atlanta and San Diego Over 7.0 (-120) at The Greek.
