Game one went to Toronto yesterday, with game two tonight set to feature Carlos Carrasco and Mark Buehrle as the starting pitchers. The MLB odds board shows the Indians favored to win.
Right now the Indians are favored in the -120 to -125 range, which means we can back Toronto at a nice +115 price if we so desire.
We see a total of eight runs on the board for this evening's matchup, though most of the action (-120) is coming in on the UNDER at time of writing, with the OVER at plus money. Keep tracking the live MLB odds in order to maximize your selections and get the best value out there.
Cleveland Indians (Carrasco)
It's been a struggle for the Indians thus far this season. They're just 7-14 on the season and come in having lost five of their last six games overall. Needless to say, spirits can't be too high in the Cleveland camp right now, as they haven't been getting good things from either their hitters or pitchers.
Maybe Carlos Carrasco can help turn things around with a quality start tonight. The right hander endured some struggles in his most recent outing, getting tagged for nine hits and five runs in just 4 and 1/3 innings of work. His ERA has jumped all the way up to 4.60 ERA as a result, to go with a 1.34 WHIP.
You may not remember just how good Carrasco was in 2014, so here's a reminder: he went 8-7 with a 2.55 ERA and 140:29 K:BB ratio in 134 innings of work. He struggled against Toronto last season though, allowing nine hits and six earned runs over two appearances totaling 6 and 2/3 innings.
Toronto Blue Jays (Buehrle)
The Blue Jays have recovered a little bit after dropping four games in a row, as they've won two of three, including game one of this series against Cleveland. Toronto scored five runs in the top of the fourth and never looked back on their way to the 5-1 victory, which improved the team's record to 11-12 overall.
It's going to be up to Mark Buehrle to try to keep the foot on the gas tonight, but early returns from 2015 show the veteran is struggling mightily. He's sporting a 4.94 ERA through his first four starts and just got shelled for 13 hits and five earned runs five days ago against the Tampa Bay Rays. Buehrle has yet to pitch more than six innings in any assignment this season.
The 36-year-old faced Cleveland once in 2014 and completely owned them, holding the Indians to four hits over seven scoreless innings. Based on how poorly he's been performing in 2015, we have a hard time seeing him replicate that showing, regardless of how threatening Cleveland has looked as of late.
We like Cleveland tonight mainly because we believe Carrasco is going to bounce back with a dominant outing.
If you've watched this guy pitch, you know he can really shut down a lineup, and we're not going to be influenced by his shaky outing last time out - he was up against a potent Detroit offense on the road, never an easy assignment. Carrasco has great stuff and is a high strikeout guy that can really get on a roll in a hurry.
We know this Toronto offense is one to be feared, but the pitching edge is squarely in Cleveland's favor in our estimation, and we think the Indians will give Carrasco enough support en route to a win for the home team. We look for Cleveland to even up the series this evening, so take them with your MLB picks.
