The Texas Rangers went off this season as a 12/1 shot to win the AL West. With one more victory this weekend against the Angels they will do just that.Check our MLB picks inside.

Angels vs. Rangers Friday Odds
As of this writing the best MLB odds we could find on Texas with lefty Martin Perez was the -120 offered at GT Bets, while Anaheim with Jered Weaver was getting +115 at Heritage.

The Situation
Texas took Game 1 of this four-game divisional series Thursday night 5-3, the key blow coming on Adrian Beltre's bases-loaded double in the bottom of the fifth that broke a 1-1 tie. So the Rangers have won three games in a row, while Anaheim, after winning seven straight, has lost two in a row.

Big-picture, Texas leads the AL West by three games over Houston, and by four games over Anaheim, with a magic number of one to clinch the division. The Rangers have already clinched at least a berth in the AL wild-card game.

The Angels, meanwhile, also trail the Astros by one game in the battle for the second American League wild-card spot.

Anaheim leads this season series 10 games to six, with the OVERS going 8-7-1.

Friday's Mound Match-Up
Perez (3-6, 4.77), by our tough standards, is just five-for-13 on quality starts this season, but two for his last three. Last Sunday he limited Houston to two unearned runs through six innings, and over his last three starts he's allowed five earned runs through 17 innings.

On the season Texas is 7-6 in games Perez has started, with the UNDERS going 8-5.

In his one start this season against Anaheim, one month ago, Perez gave up three runs and five hits, with four walks, through six innings of a 5-2 Rangers loss.

Weaver (7-12, 4.76), who left his last start with stiffness in his shoulder, is 10-for-25 on quality starts, but 0 for his last three. Last Sunday he held Seattle to one run through five innings, but over his two starts previous to that he gave up eight runs in 10 1/3 innings against Houston and the Mariners.

The Angels are 11-14 in Weaver's starts, with the UNDERS going 14-10.

In his one start this year against Texas, one month ago, Weaver allowed just one run and four hits through six innings, although Anaheim lost that game 2-1.

Friday's Batting Splits
Anaheim ranks 26th in the Bigs this season against left-handed pitching with a .305 team on-base percentage, and 24th with a .374 team slugging percentage.

Texas, on the other hand, ranks third against right-handed pitching with a .328 team OBP and 11th with a .413 team slugging percentage.

We'll give the edge with the sticks to the Rangers.

Ballpark Totals Factor
Games played at Globe Life Park this season are 36-35 on the UNDERS, even through they're averaging 9.7 runs per, third-most among all ML ballparks. Apparently oddsmakers have been posting some large totals on Rangers home games.

Angels-Rangers Free Picks
We give Texas the check-mark in the pitching match-up and with the bats; also, we rank both these bullpens in the “iffy” category. So for our free MLB picks on this game we'll ride the Rangers and the OVER.
