Morning MLB Odds Report
Heavy MLB betting odds favorites on the day include Texas (-250 on the road against Houston), Detroit (-230 vs. Cleveland), Boston (-205 vs. Toronto), and Washington (-200 vs. Chicago).
Yankees vs. Royals
Though offense ruled the day in game one of the series last night, we'd be surprised if we saw a similar outburst tonight with Andy Pettitte and James Shields scheduled to pitch. The Royals are favored at -143 and Ron Patrick will be covering the game.
Pettitte has not been himself lately, as his ERA has raised from 2.22 to 4.06 over his last two two starts. That said, you know these struggles aren't going to last very long. As for Shields, he's been everything the Royals could have wanted and more, going 2-2 with a 2.52 ERA through his first seven starts of the season.
Phillies vs. Diamondbacks
Each of the first two games of this series have been decided by a run, with the Diamondbacks emerging victorious in both. They've now won five straight games to move into a tie for first place in the NL West alongside San Francisco.
There's every chance we'll see another low-scoring battle tonight when Cliff Lee and Trevor Cahill take the bump. The total's at eight runs, while the Diamondbacks are barely favored at -107. What call will Ron Patrick make here?
Blue Jays vs. Red Sox
The Red Sox got back on track in style with a comfortable 5-0 win yesterday. Jon Lester put in a masterful performance, allowing just one hit in a complete-game shutout.
Now it's Clay Buchholz's turn to show what he's got as he tries to put Boston up 2-1 in the series. As expected, the Red Sox are favored by a large margin at -205, meaning Willie Bee may have to take a different route with his MLB picks to get better value tonight.
Angels vs. White Sox
Don't look now but the Angels have won two straight games. What a run! All kidding aside, L.A. will go for three in a row this evening. Jerome Williams gets the call for the Angels, with Jose Quintana the scheduled starter on the other side.
Williams didn't have a great start his last time out, allowing four hits and five earned runs in just 4 and 1/3 innings. However, Quintana hasn't been far from dominant himself, failing to reach the sixth inning in any of his three most recent starts. What's the right selection here for Willie Bee?
Cubs vs. Nationals
One of the hottest teams in the bigs right now is Washington. The Nationals have reeled off five consecutive wins and are now just a game back of Atlanta in the NL East.
Washington fans will like the team's chances of a sixth straight victory this afternoon since Stephen Strasburg will be on the mound. The Nationals are favored to the tune of -215 up against Edwin Jackson and the Cubs – check back with us later to see my pick for this matchup.
Rangers vs. Astros
The Rangers handed Houston their second straight loss and will look to make that three in a row here. Yu Darvish has been excellent in 2013 so far, going 5-1 with a 2.56 ERA and 0.92 WHIP.
With Darvish throwing the ball so well and Erik Bedard (0-2, 7.36 ERA, 1.82 WHIP) on the complete opposite end of the spectrum, it's no wonder Texas is such a big favorite. It'll be interesting to see what sort of pick Joe Catalano winds up making in this spot.
