San Francisco Giants
The San Francisco Giants have won two in a row after last night's 6-4 victory in their series opener with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Johnny Cueto settled down after allowing four runs in the first three innings, Conor Gillaspie finished a home run shy of a cycle and Jarrett Parker homered to help the Giants improve to 5-0 at Chase Field this season.

The Giants currently rank 8th in the majors with 389 runs scored, 8th with a .265 batting average and 29th with 67 home runs. San Francisco is 6th in MLB with a 3.62 ERA and 5th with a 1.22 WHIP.

Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks have now lost six straight games. Shelby Miller struggled last night, giving up six runs and eight hits in six innings to take the loss and fall to 0-6 at home. Arizona is just 13-29 at Chase Field.

The Diamondbacks are 14th in the majors with 371 runs scored, 7th with a .269 batting average and 14th with 97 home runs. Arizona is 26th in MLB with a 4.68 ERA and 26th with a 1.43 WHIP.

Jeff Samardzija (8-5, 3.91 ERA) vs. Patrick Corbin (4-6, 4.99 ERA)
The Giants will give the ball to Jeff Samardzija, who is 8-5 with a 3.91 ERA in 16 starts, including 1-1 with a 6.50 ERA in his last three starts and 5-3 with a 3.86 ERA in 10 road starts. Samardzija is 1-1 with a 3.89 ERA in five career starts against the Diamondbacks, including 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in three outings at Chase Field.

Patrick Corbin will take the hill for the Diamondbacks. He is 4-6 with a 4.99 ERA in 16 starts, including 1-1 with a 5.82 ERA in his last three starts and a disastrous 0-5 with a 7.02 ERA in seven home starts. He is 4-4 with a 3.48 ERA in 12 career starts against the Giants.

Betting Trends
The Giants are 27-15 in road games, 35-17 when playing against a team with a losing record and 32-22 in night games. The 'Over' is 5-0-1 in Jeff Samardzija's last six starts on a natural grass field.

The Diamondbacks are 13-29 in home games and 25-32 against right-handed starters. The 'Over' is 9-3-1 in Patrick Corbin's last 13 starts on a natural grass field.

Final Analysis
The San Francisco Giants are favored on the MLB Odds board at -103 while the Arizona Diamondbacks are at -105 and the total has been set at 8.5.

Look for a high-scoring game. Jeff Samardzija hasn't pitched well and with Paul Goldschmidt and Jake Lamb leading the way, the Diamondbacks have enough offense to get to him. As mentioned above, Patrick Corbin has an awful 7.02 ERA at home and the Giants have too many weapons on offense. I like this game to go 'Over' 8.5 for one of my MLB Picks.

Giants vs Diamondbacks Game 1

San Francisco Giants
The San Francisco Giants have lost three in a row against the Oakland Athletics ahead of their series finale, which will be played before this writing. The Giants made three errors that led to four unearned runs in Wednesday's 7-1 loss.

San Francisco has a six-game lead in the NL West over Los Angeles. The Giants currently rank 11th in the majors with 371 runs scored, 10th with a .264 batting average and 29th with just 64 home runs. San Francisco is 6th in MLB with a 3.59 ERA and 5th with a 1.22 WHIP.

Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks have lost five straight games, including last Wednesday's tough 9-8 setback in 10 innings against the Philadelphia Phillies. Arizona is now just 13-28 at home.

The Diamondbacks are 12th in the majors with 367 runs scored, 7th with a .269 batting average and 14th with 95 home runs. Arizona is 27th in MLB with a 4.66 ERA and 27th with a 1.43 WHIP.

Pitching Matchup
Johnny Cueto (11-1, 2.42 ERA) vs. Shelby Miller (2-7, 6.79 ERA)
Johnny Cueto will take the hill for the Giants after a tough outing in his last start, when he gave up six runs in six innings against the Phillies. The right-hander was bailed out by his offense and earned a no-decision. Cueto has an impressive 2.42 ERA to go along with a decent 1.02 WHIP in 115.1 innings of work. He is 7-2 with a 2.69 ERA in 63.2 innings against the Diamondbacks.

Shelby Miller will try to get back on track after a disastrous start in which he took the loss after allowing seven runs on 11 hits in six innings against the Rockies. Miller hasn't pitched well, posting a poor 6.79 ERA and a 1.77 WHIP in 58.1 innings but he's 2-2 with a 2.65 ERA in 34 innings of work against the Giants.

Betting Trends
The Giants are 25-15 in road games, 33-17 when playing against a team with a losing record, 30-22 in night games and 8-0 in Johnny Cueto's last eight road starts.

The Diamondbacks are 13-28 in home games, 25-31 against right-handed starters and 0-5 in Shelby Miller's last five home starts.

Final Analysis
The San Francisco Giants are favored on the MLB Odds board at -154 while the Arizona Diamondbacks are at +139 and the total has been set at 8.5.

Both teams are struggling but Arizona's poor home record along with Miller's struggles all season make Cueto and the Giants the right MLB Pick. Cueto is undefeated on the road while posting a 2.17 ERA and I like the Giants to help get him back on track.
