A pair of veteran left-handers will take the mound at Angel Stadium Friday night, as the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels open up a three-game series.

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB odds for this American League matchup, with the first pitch scheduled for 10:05 p.m. ET.

Check out our Friday Morning MLB Odds & Betting Lines Report.

New York dropped all three games of its recent series against the Oakland Athletics, including a 3-2 setback in 18 innings as +100 underdogs Thursday, while going UNDER the betting total for the sixth time in seven contests.

The Yankees are 7-9 as road underdogs of +100 to +125 during the 2013 campaign, with the UNDER going 10-6 in that situation.

Returning home

Los Angeles went 2-4 on its recent six-game road trip on the East Coast, but it did manage to pick up a 9-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles as +101 underdogs Wednesday, while going OVER the total for the first time in three affairs.

The Angels are 15-18 at home this season, including a disappointing 3-6 mark as favorites of -125 to -150 in that situation.

Yankees starting pitcher Andy Pettitte (5-3, 3.82 ERA) has led the club to back-to-back victories, including a 3-1 road win over the Seattle Mariners, as he allowed just a single run and three hits over 7.1 innings.

The left-hander is 4-1 with a 2.34 ERA in five road outings, issuing six walks and striking out 32 batters in 34.2 combined frames.

In 31 career starts versus the Angels, Pettitte has compiled a 14-11 record and 4.49 ERA, including a 7-8 mark and 4.11 ERA in 18 outings at this ballpark.

Angels starting pitcher C.J. Wilson (4-5, 4.02 ERA) has watched the squad drop six of his last seven appearances, including a 7-2 road loss to the Boston Red Sox last time out, as he allowed four runs (three earned) and eight hits over five frames.

The southpaw has tallied an even 2-2 record and 3.12 ERA in six home outings, with opposing hitters batting .224 against him.

In 23 career appearances (six starts) versus the Yankees, Wilson has tallied a 1-3 record and 3.43 ERA.

I’m going to recommend that readers play the total as one of their MLB picks Friday, as the UNDER is 11-0-1 in the Yankees’ last 12 road games versus left-handed starters, while the Angels have fallen short of the number in Wilson’s last five tries as a home favorite.

MLB Pick:  Under 8
