Two of the best left-handed pitchers in baseball will face off in the Bronx Friday night, as the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees open up a three-game series.

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds for this American League East matchup at Yankee Stadium, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.

Sitting atop the division

Boston owns a two-game lead over New York in the division standings, as it snapped a two-game losing streak with a 9-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies as -131 road favorites Thursday, while going OVER the betting total of 9.

The Red Sox are 11-6 on the road when the money line is +125 to -125, with the OVER going 11-6 in that situation.

Under manager Joe Girardi, the Yankees are mired in a single-season losing streak of four-or-more games for just the 11th time, as it suffered a 3-1 setback to the New York Mets as -199 home favorites last night.

Over the last two-plus seasons, New York has gone 18-13 at home with a money line of -100 to -125, with no edge in terms of the betting total (15-15-1 Over/Under)

Red Sox starting pitcher Jon Lester (6-1, 3.34 ERA) didn’t earn a decision in a 7-4 home victory over the Cleveland Indians last time out, as he allowed four runs on a season-high 10 hits over seven frames.

The left-hander is 4-1 with a 3.89 ERA in seven road outings, issuing 11 free passes and striking out 37 batters in 44 combined innings.

In 23 career games versus the Yankees, Lester has tallied a 10-4 record and 4.08 ERA, including a 7-2 mark and 4.14 ERA in 12 efforts at this ballpark.

Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia (4-4, 3.96 ERA) suffered an 8-3 road loss to the Tampa Bay Rays last time out, as he allowed a season-high seven runs and eight hits over seven innings.

The left-hander is 3-2 with a 3.27 ERA in six home outings, with opposing hitters batting .290 against him.

In 23 lifetime appearances versus the Red Sox, Sabathia has produced an 8-10 record and 4.33 ERA, including a 2-5 mark and 6.12 ERA since 2011.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Yankees as one of their MLB picks Friday, as they’ve gone 37-14 in Sabathia’s last 51 starts when opening up a series, while the Red Sox are 8-19 in Lester’s last 27 outings versus winning teams.

MLB Pick:  New York Yankees -115
