The rubber game of this three-game set between the Mets and the Cubs takes place this afternoon at Wrigley Field. Let’s analyze the matchup as well as the MLB odds and cash another winner.

Swinger’s MLB Record: 54-23, +32.03 units
The Cubs clicked for us on Monday and our MLB picks are absolutely en fuego! In addition to this matchup, I also have a pair of totals today in another write up that you will find under my name here on the SBR picks page. We are now capping at over 70 percent and this heater we are on is as scorching as the Daytona sun. Let’s keep this money train rolling as we fatten up our wallet with yet another MLB winner. Let’s do this…again.

Colon Goes for the Mets
New York captured a narrow 2-1 decision over the Cubs yesterday and will now send the 43-year-old veteran Bartolo Colon (8-4, 3.15 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) to the hill to take on the NL Central leading Chicago Cubs. The Mets’ offense has not given their starters much run support as the club is mired in the basement in most of the offensive categories. They currently rank 28th in runs scored, 24th in on base percentage and dead last in team batting average (.237).

Colon returns after allowing three runs (none earned) on four hits in a 5-3 victory over the struggling Philadelphia Phillies. The ageless veteran is 1-2 when starting against the Cubs with an ERA of 3.77 and a WHIP of 1.346. His team's record is 2-5 (-3.9 units) in these career starts. In his only start against the Cubs this season he tossed six solid innings and allowed two runs on four hits en route to a 4-3 win.

Cubs Tap Hendricks for Series Finale
The Chicago Cubs are blazing through the 2016 campaign with the best record in baseball, save for the San Francisco Giants, and look to further the gap in their 7 ½ game lead over their chief divisional rival, the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cubs are 4th in runs scored and 2nd in on base percentage (.345) but are surprisingly in the middle of the pack in terms of their team batting average that sits at a pedestrian .254 on the season.

Kyle Hendricks (8-6, 2.37, 1.02 WHIP) has been stellar for the Cubbies this season. In his last outing, he turned in yet another masterful performance in shutting down the potent Texas Rangers as he surrendered only three hits over six innings and no runs. When the dust settled, the Cubs had notched a 6-0 victory over the AL West leaders. The 26-year-old Hendricks is 2-0 when starting against the Mets with an ERA of 1.59 and a WHIP of 0.882. His team's record is 2-1 (+1.0 unit) in these starts.

Betting Analysis
I keep waiting for Bartolo Colon to turn into a middle-aged man, more concerned with improving his handicap on the golf course than lowering his ERA on the diamond. Father Time catches up with us all eventually but Colon has found a fountain of youth somewhere in the urban jungle of New York. Yet, he is facing a whiz kid in Kyle Hendricks and a Cubs offense that was virtually silenced yesterday but won’t be for long.

Though I am not inclined to laying heavy lumber it’s tough to avoid when you see a matchup that is as lopsided as this one is today. After shopping for the most generous MLB odds I see that JustBet is among the best if you’re willing to bet the chalk and lay the lumber.
